Why I LOVE football season...

I see alot of ladies posting about the temporary separation that they suffer during football season... I have to say, I absolutely love it!!

As the summer winds down and the air gets cooler, hot men in tight uniforms gather on fields and sweat and beat the crap out of each other. There are office pools, fantasy football drafts, and checking up on beer sales to stock up.

On a weekly basis, errands are done at lightening speed on Friday and Saturday to ensure an enjoyable Sunday.

Fatty snack foods are purchased (a rarity during the offseason), beer is chilled, ESPN is on every waking hour of the entire weekend.

Sunday arrives... wake, I start something in the slow cooker (because by the time dinner rolls around we are too exhausted/drunk to cook anything), turn on ESPN to hear all of the latest news, tweak my fantasy team, and then sit my big 'ol butt on the couch for the next 12 hours.

Beers are consumed, fat and cholesterol are ingested in the form of nachos, pigs in the blanket, fondue, etc. The laptop is on FIRE with fantasy updates and spreadsheets line the coffeetable with the various pools I belong to.

Every move you see on TV effects you in some way. Whether its the team you root for, the running back on your fantasy team, or the crazy pick you made in your pool that is coming to fruition... ahhh....

You enjoy the beer buzz you are feeling, yell at the tv, make fun of the halftime analysis and analyze how weird the men in the studio look with makeup on in HD.

I needed to get it out there, to the world... why I LOVE football season!

.....And my DH tells me if I need anything done, it has to be before the game starts, once it starts, he doesn't really even help with the babyChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

.....That is why I dont love football season, I don't begrudge anyone who does, well, except for DH when the baby is screaming and I am trying to do something, like just go to the potty and I return to find him helping minimally

We don't do the whole fantasy thing, but we sure have fun watching together!!!! At least with football, we both root for the same team which is certainly refreshing after going at it throughout the baseball season!! Chat Icon

Re: Why I LOVE football season...

it's like i said before

every marriage is different and everyone has different priortities.

But my thinking has always been that there are 7 days in a week. If your DH helps you 6 days of those weeks, pays attention to you, helps you with the kids, etc., then asking to be left alone on Sunday to watch football should not be a big deal.

If your DH neglects the marriage the other 6 days, well that's an entirely different issue

For the women that have great husbands from Monday-Saturday, let him enjoy his football days. Don't sit around and whine and sulk. If anything, go out, get hobby or enjoy some alone time or with friends.

Re: Why I LOVE football season...

See, I'm the opposite. I grew up in a football and hockey family. I love watching the sports on Sunday. Although I don't do the fantasy football league, I do have fun yelling at the TV.

But my DH hates football - I told him he'd change his mind if he ever went to a game! There's something fun about bundling up in layers, drinking and eating in the parking lot before a game and then shouting your lungs out during the game in a stadium!!!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am not a fan of football, however my husband is a die hard fan. I love this time of year I get sundays to myself and no one to bother me.

He is addicted to drafts, pools and this year has me going to dallas this weekend to see the giants vs. cowboys...... fun fun fun

This is why I don't mind football season so much. My DH loves football and likes to watch as much as he can on Sunday. He takes care of everything around the house before the games start, so it's fine for me.

I can shop, read a book, meet my friends for brunch, or even plop down on the couch next to him if I want.

So what if I have to prepare dinner. We're having pasta and using the frozen sauce that HE made well in advance. I just have to boil the water. Chat Icon

Believe me, I don't mind at all that DH is a football fanatic. I really do wish I could enjoy it with him. I tired. But I ask too many questions so I think he prefers that I don't watch it with himChat Icon

Re: Why I LOVE football season...

so i seriously do mean to poo poo on yaour parade but I loathe this season and cannot wait for the final game. First of all, my Dh doesnt stay home and watch he must be at his brothers house and its not just a 3 hour deal its an all out 10 hour fest at his borhters, secondly we cannot do or go anywhere on the weekends together because of this reason so I will never like football. I enjoy spending time with my Dh and one less weekend day is alot being that there are only 2 days
