Why do women do this to each other?
I was a yoga class last night and I was witness to some very prime examples of why I don't make female friends that easily.
Example 1:
I missed last week. When I came back I put my mat back where it was the first week like the instructor said.
This woman, who was to my right the first week, comes in and says "You're in my spot."
I explain that I'm not, she was to my right, but then also offer to move if it bothers her.
She declines my offer but proceeds to LOUDLY tell others loudly that I took "her spot" for the rest of class.
Example 2:
There is a heavy, older, kind of awkward woman in the class.
A group of women were talking as we were waiting for class to start and she came up to them and said something relevant to their conversation.
One of them said "uh-huh" all bitchy-like and then actually turned her back and they closed the circle so she was left out.
Example 3:
I was asking the teacher a question after class about how to handle my back issues when picking up DS.
I explained that he is almost 23 pounds and it's hurting my back.
Out of nowhere this other woman comes up and says "My 8 month old is that heavy. Your son is small you shouldn't be having issues. I'm not."
Then she proceeds to ask me if I'm a SAHM, and I tell her no, I work full time and her comment was:
"Well then you REALLY shouldn't have an issue. You probably only see hiim for a few minutes a day."
This is only an example of one night of passive aggressive bullsh!t.
I see it all the time.
Why, why, why do women do this to each other?

Also who claims spots in yoga? What are we in elementary school with assigned seating?

Yeah, I 'd like to drop kick #3 as well. Next time, turn to her and say, "this is an A, B conversation....C yourself out of it"
I'd like to think they are intimidated by your natural beauty and intelligence. I don't know why women do this, I really do think it is a lack of self confidence and esteem that makes them feel compelled to bully each other this way.
And by the way, didn't you have back surgery? Now I want to kick #3 even more.....

No, 'nuff is not said. Yes, those women were *******. But not all women are. And the fact that "*****" has become an acceptable term to call one another is really sad to me.
I find it so sad that so many women feel this way. This is why women don't want to work for other women, and women will never have the power in society that men do.
You have to remember, there are still a select few spots at the top for women. And for women a few years older than us, those spots were even fewer. You had to be better than any man and every woman to succeed. Those women are called *******.
Girls spend so much time climbing the social ladder- and the only way to do it is to cut other people down. I dread having my daughter deal with this when she grows up, no matter what side of that ladder she falls on. And so many girls grow up with that same insecurities and become the women you just described.
And you know what, we are the ones to blame! We fight over SAHM/Working mom, breastfeeding/formula feeding. We judge one another ALL THE TIME. And its done on here too! We complain why someone made a dumb comment at the grocery store about something we did/said to our children, but we then turn around and post on a thread on why a SAHM would put her kid in daycare???
I HATE it the way women cut each other down. I HATE it the way we judge one another. If women could deal with one another the way men do, and support one another, we coudl be so much better off!!!! Look at these political scandals! When did you see a woman of power in a sex scandal? But since we can't unite because we are too busy bickering about BF and saying all women are ******* men have all the power.

I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but generally speaking, *I* think that women are typically less secure in themselves as compared to men. Women are very often riddled with self-esteem issues, whereas men typically display the opposite, false confidence.
Following that, self-esteem issues can, not always, but very often, breed into some nasty behaviors.
But, your examples are seriously ridiculous for adults. This isn't 5th grade!!

But, i also think it's sad that we allow ourselves to make generalizations that all women are like this. There ARE catty, petty, sad little women in this world, but there are also strong, beautiful, amazing women too, and i think for those that say that they don't have female friends because of "this", well, they're doing themselves a great disservice

I find "this" to be a great barrier to me becoming friends with women though.
I can't tell you how many female friends I've lost because of stupid reasons.
On my part and theirs.
But my male friends have always been around. We disagree and get over it.
And I can't imagine the same scenarios happening in a male class.

Prime examples as to why I have always found it easier to be friends with men.
(unfortunately, DH is the jealous type so I have only a select few male friends and a handful of female friendships that have stood the test of time)
