I have no idea where Grant City is. I grew up on LI and DH lived on SI so when we moved back home from Ireland, DH had this house as a rental and we decided to live here. We are in the Westerleigh/Port Richmond area.

I grew up on LI, lived in Queens for 8 years (post-college) and DH and I recently bought a house in Putnam County. Still happy to be a New Yorker!
Where in Putnam.. I lie in Yorktown heights on the Westchester/Putnam border...
Edited to add theat Dh and I grew up on LI Plainview for him.. Merrick for me.. our parents are still there so we are there alot....

I just asked DH and that is what he said. Although, without traffic (HA!) nothing is that far from each other on SI.

DH and I just purchased a home in Monroe, NY (Southern Orange County). We are moving in on January 14th (we did a lot of renovations). We lived in Nassau County, LI for 6 years.

Up until 3 months ago we lived in Manhattan, now we live in Hoboken.. Both DH and I grew up on LI and our parents are there..
