I would do the ceiling first. Any splatters would fall down, onto the unpainted walls. There wouldn't really be any splatter going up from the walls to the ceiling. If you did the walls first, you may get splatters on the walls when you painted the ceiling.

i did the walls first...this way, when i go to paint the ceiling, i can roll all the way to the edge..so any smudge on the wall will be covered with crown moulding

Thanks. I have finished all the moulding and figured to do the ceiling first and then the walls. Dh is doing the rest as he doesn't like to do the moulding and I do. lol.
