Depends on what you need it for. Will you be an EBF SAHM that's looking to replace an occasional feeding? Or a working mom that will need to pump several times a day? What's your budget like?

I think no matter what the Medela is the best way to go. It's the best pump out there, and is so efficient- for however you plan on using it.

I was completely clueless too. I knew Medela seemed to be the way to go just based on all the ladies on here and general reviews but wasn't sure which one to pick. I ended up registering for the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump - On The Go Tote

I picked that one because when I called EdgePark to see if my insurance would cover a pump the rep asked me which one I wanted. I told her I wanted a Medela but wasn't sure which one to pick. She told me that this was their most popular model and that they consitently got good feedback on it. Hope that helps.

Medela makes a bunch of different pumps, and not all of them are fabulous. I have a Medela Pump In Style now and liked it, but it's really $$$ and not necessarily worth it for occasional use.

I started out with a Medela Swing (one-sided, motorized) and it was terrible. I wound up calling the company for help. After weeks of dealing with them, they sent me a PIS to shut me up.Chat Icon

For the same price as a Swing, I should have gotten an Ameda Purely Yours (double-sided, motorized). Ameda is the red-headed step-child of pumps, but they're really great. It's reviewed well and had a closed-circut system, so pumped milk can never get into the motor.

I've read this about the Ameda...do you have it? Would you say it's worth it?

I will be a working mom, full time, so I'm guessing I'll have to pump a few times at work.
