Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
Wow, good post! Let's see I was working and going to school. I went to a lot of clubs because I was into the whole dance scene. I never thought I would meet such a good man as my husband is. I never thought I would get married.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
Love this post...
10 Years Ago, I was dating DH. I was a senior in college (I did the "5 year plan..you know.."I don't know what I want to do with my life).
I was working for an after school program in the school district, part time, school full time and hanging out having a GREAT time.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
I was a sophomore in high school. Trying to get good grades while doing as little as possible. And probably obsessing over this kid in my science class.
I don't think I really saw myself married for 2 years at 25, but I knew I'd be teaching and living in VA.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
1997..
I was not married and I had no kids and a decent job. I was living at home with my parents and dating a spectacular guy named Dane. I was friends with a guy that I met at a party named Rob. I was deciding what law school I wanted to attend.
It was an active year.. I did a lot of travelling, snowboarding, hiking, biking, rafting, skiing and drinking that year.
If you had asked me then what I thougt I would be doing in 10 years - I probably would have said that I would be married to Dane. I would have 1 child and would be globe trotting with my little family. I would have said that I would be an attorney and that I would be living in NYC because neither Dane nor I could abide the suburbs.
2007: Dane and I broke up because as fabulous as he was - and as much in common as we had.. we just felt more like brother and sister than lovers. I started dating Rob officially in 2000 and had our first child in 2001, second in 2003 and got married in 2007.
I dropped the idea of law school because I just couldn't see making my parents pay for any more school for me - especially when I wasn't 100% passionate about law as a lifetime career. Paying for myself wasn't an option because my parents were always adament about paying for my education.
I am as lazy as they come. I don't bike, hike or snowboard. I haven't been on a pair of skis in almost 9 years. I haven't been out of the country in 8 years. I rarely drink.
But I am happier than I have ever been. Happier than I ever possibly imagined I would be.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
10 years ago was a bad place.
I had just lost my daughter (stillborn) in June and was recovering mentally from that.
I was borderline agorophobic from June -Oct of 1997, and had a hard time accepting what happened.
I choke up now thinking about how hard it was for me to fight back and not totally let sadness overtake my world completly.
With the help of some good friends, I got a new job, got myself help and moved on.
I didnt think about where I would be NOW...I thought about surviving day to day.
Now I can say Im more then thrilled to think of how Im doing and my self "back then" would be happy to know what was to come.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
I was just finishing my last semester of college. I graduated Dec. of 1997.
Am I where I thought I would be?
Career wise: YES! I make a good salary for doing something I LOVE! Can you ask for more?!
Home wise & family wise: NO I thought we would have a house & kids by now. But DH took a LONG time to go back to school and........well let's just say we are YEARS behind schedule at this point

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
Believe it or not- 10 years ago I was living in Saudi Arabia. I worked for an airline that did sub-services for Saudia Airlines.
That same year, my very good friend committed suicide.

I was 15 and just starting high school. Worrying about getting into college and having crushes on about 15 different guys (yes, I was a crush wh0re!).
I don't know where I thought I would be at this age... my vision of the future really didn't extend past college.
I was 16 and I was a crush whore too... Those were the good old days...

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
I was in my senior year of college and between boyfriends. I was taking the LSAT's and then decided to take a year of just working between college and law school and then go to law school at night the next year.
It was the best decision I made because I met DH during the year of work and I learned a lot from juggling work full time and part time law school.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
Not in a good place, my Mom had just died of breast cancer, I had my dad to take care of - he wasn't really sick, just had no clue how to take care of himself, as he never had to. Then he died about a year after.
Never really had a plan, I have always been one to go with the flow. In my own little mind I always thought my parent would be around forever....and I would just get everything they had, which wasn't much.
What a rude awakening, after being a sheltered "child" to find out there was a mortgage on their house that I couldn't possibly handled and there was no savings and lots of bills.
At this point...I'm still going with the flow, but at least my bills are paid.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
I had just graduated high school, turned 18 and was attending NCC. I thought I would be married and have kids by now, but that did not happen. I don't think I was dating anyone seriously, probably just messing around
