Where/how do I get a recycling can?

Yes.
I don't know if you're in the Town of Brookhaven. But they charge $15 for their cans, or they will give you a Recycle sticker and you can use any garbage can.
ETA - they will mail you the sticker if thats what you choose to do, so you don't have to go down there.

I am in the town of Smithtown, and you can either purchase a new one from the town or get stickers to place on whatever container you provide.

Town of Islip- Call them and they will send a postcard. The postcard will allow u to go to a location and pick up your can. I dont know what town you are in. My location was on Lincoln Ave. HTH

I'm in Islip, and most people have regular garbage cans for recycling. It's a good thing, too, since I need a much bigger can than they provide....

Same with the town of huntington. I've seen recycle cans/bins at Home Depot.

I can't believe you posted this!! Someone stole our can early Wednesday morning!!!
I heard a loud noise while i was sleeping. And I had a feeling that someone threw it in their pick up truck or the recycle people were reallllllly early. So when I got up at 6:30 am and looked out it was no where to be found.
Kind of sad that people thought we had enough cans in there to steal. I hope it was worth the $0.50 that was in there....

Yup...we got the same letter & sticker. It was passed this fall due to the ongoing town fiscal issues.
