When your DC started STTN...
When your DC started STTN was it a gradual thing, like slowly sleeping an hour more here an hour more there? Or just all of a sudden it happened? Just wondering what to expect when the (glorious) time comes..

Re: When your DC started STTN...
At 8 weeks my dd started to sleep through the night... we would put her down around 8 or 9 and then she would wake up at 4 or 5 and id give her the pacifier n she would fall asleep. From that point on I knew she didnt need to eat anymore so the binky it was.
Now she is almost 5 months and sleeps from 8 to 6:30-7. Once in awhile she may wake up and i run in to give the pacifier and she goes right back to bed. it will happen for u..it may happen gradually...

Re: When your DC started STTN...
I did gentle sleep training. I followed a book called Baby Sleep Solution by Giordano.
He was sleeping 5-6 hour stretches on his own, but waking up to eat. The program gets them on a schedule during the day, that encourages them to eat extra during the day so that they are not hungry at night.
At around 3m he was sleeping 8-9 hours (which was really what I was aiming for) but he gradually went to 11 hours. He never does 12 like the book promises. But its more than I expected anyway.

Re: When your DC started STTN...
yeah it was kinda gradual. At 6 weeks old DS was sleeping 6 hours and then he pretty much added one hour of sleep each week for the next 3 weeks. At 9 weeks he was doing an 8-9 hour. stretch. At 11 weeks we moved him into his crib in his own room and he started sleeping 10+ hours immediately. He was much more comfy and it was quieter.

It wasn't really gradual, but there were stages. At around 4 weeks or so, he suddenly started sleeping like 6-7 hours, then a couple weeks later, like 8-10 hours.

same here. loved the book - read it for the "concept" then modified for us :) he was sleeping 11-12 hours through the night by 3.5 months! love it.

Re: When your DC started STTN...
DS slept through the night for the first time around 10 weeks old. I woke up early in a panic because I realized he hadn't been up. Went to check on him and he was fine. He slept through the night every night since then (he's 10 1/2 months old now). FYI, he sleeps from 8 pm to 6 am and only takes two 45 min naps during the day.

Re: When your DC started STTN...
Mine is at that point now. He is 10-11 weeks. It was a sudden thing. One night... like the PP, I woke up thinking my kid had died because it was 4 AM.
He wakes up half the time to eat, especially if his last feed was a BF.
He goes to bed at 9PM, used to wake at 2AM, now wakes at about 5AM, but goes back to sleep until about 7 after BFing.

Re: When your DC started STTN...
For us it's happening gradually. A few nights ago he went a 5 hour stretch out of no where, we feed him and then he went for another 3 1/2 - 4 hours. Before that, he was getting up every 3 hours like clockwork!!
I thought I was dreaming the first time it happened and it was just luck that night, but so far it's sticking and hopefully will get even longer.
