When was your 1st doctors appointment?

I got a positive HPT on October 8th and knew at that point I was only about 2 weeks. I waited to call the doctor until this week and they said they won't see me until I have missed 2 periods. I got appointment for Nov 13th but by them I will be about 8 1/2 weeks. That seems like really long to wait. I'm freaking out about what can happen between now and then that I may not know about it and trying not to get too excited. It's so hard though. Is it normal to wait so long for your first appointment? I feel like with my first we went and saw a heart beat by about 7 weeks. I'm going crazy here!

Re: When was your 1st doctors appointment?

That seems long to me, my Dr always had me come right in for betas and a def a tvs by 6 weeks....but i had issues getting/staying pregnant so maybe thats okay if you had a great first pregnancy...or maybe your dr is really laid back? if your not comfortable waiting that long call them backl and tell them you want to come right in....Congrats on your pregnancy!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

When was your 1st doctors appointment?

My doctor also doesn't see anyone till 8 weeks. She said that they wait that long bc then they can definitely see/hear a heartbeat and confirm a healthy pregnancy.

Re: When was your 1st doctors appointment?

with this preg i went at 8 w.
with my 1st I was unsure of my dates and went very early-it wasnt a good experience. it was scary. I know its a long wait but at least everything most likely would be seen by then.

When was your 1st doctors appointment?

Most doctors won't see you until 8 weeks. It's pretty standard. The wait is torture though, I feel you on that!!

Mine is between 6 and 8 depending on your history. I think 8 is pretty normal.

Re: When was your 1st doctors appointment?

Mine was at just shy of 7 weeks but i scheduled it that way. I could have gone at 6 weeks but knew the longer I waited the better the appointment would be with what they'd see on the sonogram.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Technically 2 weeks pg is only when you are Oing. If you got a +HPT you have to be closer to 4 weeks pg.

When was your 1st doctors appointment?

Thanks ladies, I guess it is normal. I'm just so nervous that I don't know what's going on in there until I see the US and a heartbeat. I feel like one day I have symptoms like nausea and bloating and the next day I feel fine. Which makes me so worried. I just have to wait and be patient! :)

Re: When was your 1st doctors appointment?

When I first went in I thought I was around 5 weeks. That's what DH and I and the sono techs were expecting. At the sono we learned I was 8.5 weeks!

When was your 1st doctors appointment?

I was seeing an RE so I had a blood test two days after my BFP and one three days later. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks 4 days and another at 8 weeks 4 days. Most OB's will not see you until 8 weeks.
