Re: When to try for DC #2

Because we have fertility issues, we will probably start trying a little earlier than we would if we didn't require treatments to get pregnant.
First I have to get AF and since I hope to BF until DD is a year, who knows when she might return.

If we could even get pregnant again Chat Icon and day care costs were not an issue, we would be trying now for number 2. As you know DS is going to be 1 in 2 days Chat Icon

I wanted mine 2yrs apart. We got preggo with dd on the fiirst try. We started trying 5 months ago for #2. 2 chemicals later I'm still not preggo. So now I'm wishing I started earlier :(

Re: When to try for DC #2

DD is 14 months and I cannot imagine having another right now! We are at our max in terms of management. We are also in a small one-bedroom apartment, and financially, just one is a stretch with daycare. Ideally I'd like them like 4 years apart, but I'm 35, so if we are not Ina situation where we can have a second soon, it may be one and done. My brother and I are 6 years apart, so I'm accustomed to a span...

Re: When to try for DC #2

We are aiming for around 3 years apart (start starting to TTC after DS turns 2). DH would have liked sooner and I would probably wait 4 years in between so we are compromising. That being said who know how long it will take us to get pregnant. The reasons I chose to wait and would wait even longer was allowing my body to heal, breastfeeding, and one on one time with DS as a baby/toddler.

Re: When to try for DC #2

I plan on BFing until my DS is ready to wean. That will help determine when we try for another because I can't breastfeed while taking fertility drugs.

That, and I also want to lose the baby weight before I go for another. I really don't want to pile one problem on top of another. Chat Icon That said, I ate a brownie today Chat Icon

I wanted a 2-3 year age gap, and got pregnant first try with my DS, so we waited until we were prepared for that to happen again with #2. DS did not STTN for a long time and I am a FTWM with a demanding job, and was scared to death of 2 under 2. We tried one cycle without OPKs, skipped a cycle, and then started using OPKs. I conceived our second cycle with OPKs but lost that pregnancy, and then proceeded to get pregnant and miscarry two more times. I did not expect this to happen AT ALL as everything was perfect and easy with my first pregnancy. I do wish we had started trying a little earlier, but not much as we could have gotten pregnant right away again. It's tough because you never really know what is going to happen Chat Icon

My experience was very similar. I got PG with DS very easily. I wanted a 2/3 year age gap. However, I m/c'ed 2 PG that would have been at about 2-1/2 and 3 yrs. After that it took me a little while to get my body back.

We ended up having our DD right before DS turned 5.

I still would have liked to have them closer together, and I would have liked to have a 3rd. But overall, the age difference has actually worked out very well for us.

Re: When to try for DC #2

I always thought I would wait until DS turned 3 and start trying for #2. Well 2 months after his 2nd birthday we found out we are pregnant Chat Icon

Our kids will be 3 yrs apart which I think will be great BUT as far as financially, one in daycare, college etc. 4 yrs id preferable for sure.

For me two under two would have been too much, 3 or 4 year difference sounds about right to me. Chat Icon But again everyone is different.

Re: When to try for DC #2

Such a timely question! I literally said to DH last night that I'm thinking about #2!!

DD is only 7 months and I originally wanted to start trying when she's 12 months but don't think I'll be quite ready. So we will start trying at the end of this year when she's 16 mos.
