When to start looking into child care options

When did you start looking at options? If you have a nanny, where did find one? We are undecided at this point and parttime nanny might be a good option for us.

Re: Daycare options

OMG. I just got back this afternoon from touring 4 diff places in my area (I'm 10 weeks)...one very reputable place has a wait list of over a YEAR! So I would stay start ASAP to see what your options are!

Re: When to start looking into Daycare options

I didnt start until beginning of Dec and had DS the end of Dec. it really depends. Some places will have a list but other places just might be the right timing for an open spot

I started around 23 weeks and everyone center I looked in to had availability (though only 1 or 2 spots). I'm due in May and just reserved my spot for August 2012. I live in South Nassau, btw.

Re: When to start looking into Daycare options

I am 35 weeks and havent yet started looking for a nanny. I can be home for 22 weeks after the baby is born. Since this is my first, I want to wait to meet the baby before deciding who I will hire- I want to see them interact with he/she first. I think if I was doing a daycare center I might have looked while I was pregnant.

Re: When to start looking into Daycare options

After posting on here at 16 weeks and being told that we needed to start immediately, I started looking right away. A few places already had waiting lists for September, but we found a family group day care that we loved that had infant openings. We put down a deposit when I was about 17-18 weeks, I think.

I went super super early to one place because I didn't know the prices and how long you had to make a decision.I think I was 7 weeks lol

I think that's a great idea. Where do you plan on looking for a nanny? We don't have any family to watch our LO and if we can parttime with a nanny, I would prefer this.
