When to Shutoff CAC
Hey All, Just wondering, when do you all shutoff your CAC for the season? Being summers almost over, and its def. got in a little cooler, what time?
This will be our first year with it, so not sure. I was thinking after Labor Day, then go back to windows open (which I love!!).
Thanks

It all depends on the weather. Last year I don't think we shut ours off until close to the middle of September. Remember, just bc Labor day is here, doesn't mean we won't have some sweltering days....

yea, but I also don't want to turn off/turn on/turn off, etc.
But do we get that may hot days in Sept? I mean hot, like about 80ish? If its in the 70's, were totally ok with just windows.

My point exactly, we will not be turning it off & on...Once it is off, it is off for us. I think it is a personal preference. I remember having some 80 degree weeks in September...DH is outside all day & likes a cool home when he is there. Until we see it cooling off significantly, the CAC will remain on...

Why don't you just set it to a comfortable temp? If it's not kicking on anymore because it's too cool out, then shut it off.

I'm going to let the weather determine it.

Us too. I don't want to keep turning off/on/off if I don't have to. We'll probably be well into the middle of september before I turn it off...
I CAC.... Such a luxury now.

Re: When to Shutoff CAC
If you set it at the temp. you're comfortable with and it's cooler than that out, won't it just not run?

that's what we do. Eventually you notice that it hasn't kicked on in a few days, and then we shut it off.

Stupid question maybe but - does it have an on/off switch??
We bought a house and it has CAC - we've been adjusting the temp on the panel - usually its set on 74-75. Is that normal?

I think we'll just up the temp so it doesn't kick on until we are comfortable and don't need it at all for the rest of the year.

Your control should have a fan swtich on and off.
We turn ours off when we see that the unit hasnt turned on for a few days

Re: When to Shutoff CAC
We turned ours off after last weekend so we could open the windows also. Plus, our house still has a paint/floor refinishing smell, so I really want to air it out as much as possible.
