Well Its an individual thing IMO. You ahve to way the choice. Some people NEED to feel 100% secure moneywise.

I am not that person. The stress from my job was killing me and I had NO time to find anything else.

I made a decision to go P/T so I could become less stressed, look for other opportunities etc..

BEST decision I ever made!

Is my life changed with less money...YES....but the less stress is better.

I'd say take the cut. You can always use experience in this newer area of work to get yourself the boost down the road, either with your performance at the new company or by taking your experience elsewhere.

I took a huge cut at one point to change careers. The first job was to get my foot in the door and get my resume going. Then I found a new job and ever since then I've made good money.

um, no and I ended up getting a $7K pay increase with an awesome job.

I was so perplexed with this- because in my gut, I knew neither one was the right position. I am happy I stuck it out!
