when is the first time you has your first child sleep out?

FTM here

i have a dinner to go to that is going to run late and i think ill just have my dd sleep at her grandparents. shes 3 months, so i think i can handle it lol!

just curious how you guys did on that first sleepover and how old they were.

DD was 6 months and it was only because I had an OOS wedding that I had no choice but to stay overnight. I wasn't thrilled about it but I really wanted to be at the wedding, which was a plane ride away. DS it wasn't until he was a year and DH and I had to go to a company conference in another country. I don't really like my kids staying out but I'll do it when absolutely necessary. Everyone is different with these things though.

Def by 5 months. We went away for the weekend but I'm sure we did it before that. Now he's four and sleeps out all the time.

5 months we had a wedding and we wanted to just stay at the hotel. My mom came to my house though just because it was easier and because she watched my dogs. I would have had no problem leaving her earlier if I had too

3 weeks. We are huge Mets fans and my husband got me tickets to the post season game on my birthday.

13 months but I was nursing. That being said, she's been weaned since then and at 17 months she hasn't had any more sleep overs

4 months maybe younger. I have always let my kids sleep at the grandparents house. But they both Sttn early. Younger did sometimes and issues for me but always slept through there lol

Never...but we don't have anyone we trust...and were neurotic.

Dd1 is 2 1/2 and dd2 is 5 months. When they're older we will.

We do not live near family. DS is 19 months and has never slept out. If we lived closer, I'm still not sure if he'd sleep out because he's a crumby sleeper especially in the pnp and I'd feel bad subjecting someone else to that.

My kids are 6 and 4 . Never had them slept anywhere else

DS is 4 and hasn't slept out. He still gets up in the middle of the night to climb into bed with us and takes FOREVER to fall asleep at my ILs and parents' when we're out late, so I feel like it would be a lot for them.

My twins are 4yrs & I have not let them sleep out yet. I keep saying when they are 10 haha

DD was 2 and it was against my wishes. It worked out well. She did fine.

11 weeks old It was 3 days before the individual tax deadline and I had to work extremely late. DS slept at my in-laws house

Hasn't happened yet with our 3.5 year old. One night at 3 yo grandma/grandpa stayed at our house and we were out for 1 night. That was to prepare for me being at the hospital when I was delivering my dd but since we ended up not making it to the hospital did't need any sort of childcare hehe.

DS1 was a month old because we had a wedding to go to. My mom stayed at our house and watched DS2 overnight at 3 months old but other than that he hasn't slept at anyone's house yet.

All of my kids started having overnights at grandparents house as early as 3 months old. We never do an overnight unless we specifically have something to do and we won't be home until after their bedtime. We don't send them there if we will be home, and only grandparents never anywhere else. My oldest is almost 5 and at this point I would let him stay at an aunt/uncle's house.

DD was 15 mos old. She's only ever slept at my parents (3 blocks from us) and DH's mom has watched her at our house. In that order too.

We have two now, so it's just that much harder. DH would be willing to do it more often but I'm not comfortable. I have to say it's refreshing to read these replies. I feel like a lot of our friends/family do this often and like there's something wrong with me.

ETA: DH and I both travel for work. The first time I left her she was 6 mos but DH was home. DS will be almost 5 mos when I go on my upcoming trip.

Boys have slept at their grandparents since a few months old. At that age they don't really know the difference and it's nice bonding time for them along with the bonding time I get with DH. If we have a late wedding or know we're going to be out super late then I'll just have them sleep over at my parent's or my IL's. They love it!! I think it's so much fun for all. I remember sleeping at my grandparents when I was younger and having a blast.

My 7 year old niece has slept over my house too and the kids loved it! I have no problem having my boys (6 and 4) sleeping over at families now. I trust them 100%.

we had a friends wedding in NJ when my first was 6w old and a local wedding when he was a month, we slept out for the 6w and came home for the 4w.
