When first TTC...

Did everyone jump right into the OPK's and charting your cycle when TTC? The first month we decided I went out right away and bought the ovulation monitor and never really gave myself a chance to just see if it would happen on it's own.

My mom thinks I'm nuts and that I'm going to stress myself out with always charting and using the CBEFM. And if I stress myself out it will be harder to get a BFP. And now I'm stressed that I'm going to get stressed.

I'm with you. I'm finishing the ones I have this month, and then if I get a BFN again...no more OPK's for me.

Last month was our first TTC cycle-we didn't use any OPKs or temping, but we were out. This month I am doing both OPKs and temping. I am doing it more just to learn my cycles and my LP, and if it fails this month, I am going to forget the OPKs. I am trying to keep my mind off of TTC as much as possible-when God is ready, I will get my baby!

I think it is a personal decision, and I am sure that it depends on personal preference!

I'm sure that if we just tried to let it happen on it's on the first month and got a BFN, I would be writing how I am only going to use OPK's.

It's just this week with the holiday's all I'm hearing is that so and so is PG, and I've had too many people tell me that they got a BFP the first month of trying.

i think everyone needs to start this journey with whatever works for them. nothing against the ladies on this board at all...but for me, i know that i couldn't start the TTC journey by jumping straight into OPKs and measuring EWCM and charting temps and all that stuff. i don't want to become obsessed with it, and if i started all those things immedaitely out of the gate, i probably would.

DH and i right now are just "not preventing it" and seeing what happens for a few months...that way we can slowly get used to the idea of it all. we're visiting a new OB next month to talk to them and maybe get started on some pre-natals, and see what he says about our plans. if it doesn't happen on its own for awhile--i'll start with OPKs and such. but for right now, i'm just going with...whatever happens, happens!

I didn't use them for the first 4 months because we wanted to just see if it would just happen and then out of the blue my cycle was much longer than in the past. So it got me wondering about when I was actually ovulating, and if I was ovulating, so I used them last month. It confirmed I was ovulating and that I was MUCH later than I thought (day 21). So now I have a better idea of when the good days are which puts my mind at ease. I'll probably use the OPKs for a few months and if there is a definite pattern I'll stop.

I first went off of BC in April and I wanted to track my cycles to see when they regulate. I used OPKs back then to see if I was ovulating and what my cycle was like - I had been on it for so long it was sad to say I had no idea how my body works naturally

This is our first month TTC and I decided to use them again to be sure we were doing this "right" but they ended up giving me ambiguous results anyway so I am done with them for good!

I have and still do track my cycles on mymonthlycycles.com I think I was extra excited this month because it was our first time but I think next month if we don't get a BFP things will be a lot less intense

I don't think you should start with anything. Just try to BD on the days by O. Go with the flow for a few months. I think you can stress yourself out with all the technicalities of it. JMO

I almost think the less you know, the better. You shouldn't stress yourself out right away.

I feel that I know too much and think about it too much now....

I useld the saliva thing with my first 2. With this one I used OPK's and was glad I did since it turned out I wasn't ovulating!

I did 1 month of just not using protection. Then 3 months of digital OPKs. Then 6 months of CBEFM. Then started temping/charting.

take it easy the first few months andh ave fun, i was normal first month then i cried when af came so i bought opks for month 2 but couldnt use them because i gotaa uti and thats the month we got preggo so now i spent 40 bucks for nothing.

I did one month of just BD with no protection, this month I got a OPK and it turns out I was ovulating way later in my cycle than I thought. I have a 32,33 day cycle and I ovulated on CD22. have my fingers crossed...

I think the key is trying not to stress about it, but it's so hard not to!

Yes, but only because we knew from the start it was going to be difficult to get pregnant. OPKs ended up not working for me anyway.

My thing is if you don't chart it..how do you know what days to BD? Can anyone help me out? I looked up some different online charts, and they both said different days. This is why I'm so confused
