When driving, your light turns green do you look both ways?

Someone was in a pretty bad accident, they had the green light and went, i asked if they looked to see if anyone was coming, they said they never looked in their life, their light turns green and they go.

So just wondering if that is the norm, or if everyone looks just to make sure, so they don't get T-boned through an intersection

The first time I ever drove, I was told to wait a second and look both ways and I think I always do it - its a habit now.

I always look. I've seem people get creamed by drivers trying to get past the red light.

I actually saw it last Saturday by the Smithhaven Mall. Luckily no one was hit.

i always do!!!! my parents branded that into my mind. you never know if someone is going to blow a light. you should never trust other drivers.

Always. And I always wait a few seconds before going. Too many morons out there trying to beat that red light. There have been a few times when, while looking both ways, a car has eaten the light and I always think they could have killed me if I hadn't checked and waited.

Always.. but I will tell you that it wasn't always that way.. It took my getting into a horrid accident 11 years ago to teach me that lesson..

(I had the green light.. proceeded to go and an 87YO woman never saw her red light and blasted into me)

I do.

I'm that cautious driver though. I have this fear of dying in a car accident so I'm always focused on whats going on around me.

I always do. I've heard too many horror stories and seen too many people blow lights.

Always. Too many drivers blow the red light.

about 5 years ago me and my Dh were at a light and it turned green we started to go and some guy blew the red light and was about 2 inches from creaming us. We actually both just sat there in shock because we were so lucky. From that day on I have looked both ways.

If I remember I do but I never hit the gas as soon as the light turns green, i usually wait a second to give the moron's gunning for the yellow light a chance to blow through the red.

I almost always do. I assume someone's going to blow the intersecting light....

Almost always. I also look both ways when crossing over one way streets just in case.

I don't always look both ways but I ALWAYS wait a second or 2 before going.

I almost always do, Im sure there have been a handful of times when I didnt. On a similar note, I do this at stop signs when I cant really see, even at a 4 way stop. When I was 16 taking my driving test the DMV guy in the car w/me kept getting all irritated when I would stop at the stop sign and then move up a bit and stop again so that I could see the traffic. He kept saying "it's a 4 way stop so you dont have to move up to look". I kept thinking, yes I do- what if one of the people that are supposed to stop don't. I was 16 and knew more than that idiot!

I was in an accident a few weeks ago with my kids. I was in the city passed over the intersection sitting in traffic and a guy made a right turn when his light turned green and smashed right into me. He said he was watching the light, when it turned green he hit the gas. Never looked, didn't see me until his bumper smashed into me. This was his statement. I always look and thank God my 3 kids were OK.

I always do- I also wait a few seconds after the light turns green to go. a few years back DH was in a horrible accident when some lady tried to beat the red light.

Depends on the intersection. I do and don't.... or maybe I always do lol. Not too sure. I am a very careful driver, I just do not trust other drivers.

I always do. Both ways even if the road I'm crossing is a one way.

And I wait a couple seconds to go. I don't care if the car behind me is beeping the second the light turns green.
