when do you find the time to exercise?
I am 12 weeks post partum and officially back at work for the past three weeks, so I'm still very new to balancing motherhood with work and life and everything. In any case, I really want to kick the last of my pregnancy weight and start shaping up again but it seems impossible.
When do you fit in exercise?! (and feel free to share your routines!)

I don't! But carrying around a 20lb baby is workout enough for me.

I didn't until almost a year later and still have to give up the gym to do other things.

do something quick! I would come home from work and run a mile around the block. On days that I was off I would take the baby in the stroller for a long walk.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
I just can't do the early am workouts! I just joined the gym: -I am trying to do one 7:15 pm class a week at least. We eat dinner early and kids are in bed by 645 or on their way into bed around then -one sat am class -I have a spin bike at home so I will take the kids downstairs and put the super yard gate around the bike and ride while they play -in the warmer weather I will run with them either with all in the triple jogger or I just take one in the single when dh is home
For me my biggest obstacle is feeling bad for taking "me" time but I am trying to remember that exercising is something I love and it makes me a happier person and a better mommy good luck!

when do you find the time to exercise?
Going to start next week. She will almost be 5 months. Two days a week after she goes to bed and go balls out vs trying to go 5x a week. I know it's going to be hard at first bc I rather be in bed but I really don't want to look at myself in a bathing suit right now so that's my motivation.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
So far I haven't been able to fit it in. No time or energy but hoping that when Spring gets here I'll cut back on my pumping & that will give me time for exercise. I want to get back into running regularly again. Probably will have more time on the weekends than during the week, but hoping I can do it one or two weekdays as well.

Google some HIIT workouts. They are very effective, and usually done in 15-20 minutes.

I had a hard time with this after my first baby and didnt really get consistently back into anything until he was a year old. I joined crossfit (I know not everyone is into that) but it's just an hour class and almost like personal training in a group so all I have to do is show up. I find I'm a better mother if I can get out of the house and do this. This time around (I'm due in a few months with #2) I hope to be able to get back into a consistent exercise routine earlier on.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
I am someone who needs tons of motivation to work out, so I signed up for 2 half marathons this spring. Having a specific goal forces me to find time to exercise.
I try to run 2x during the work week at night, and then 2x on weekends.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
i try and go 1-2 times during the work week during my lunch hour and then one day on the weekend. When its nice out I'll probably run outside more or do more walking. It isn't easy and it took me a while to get into a good routine and this stupid winter has been throwing everything off.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
Walks 5 days a week after work and on weekends. As far and as long as i can make them. Sometimes 1 mile, sometimes 4. I was doing the treadmill at night when went to sleep also. Now that I work at nights, and the weather stinks though, I have done nothing.
I am starting up again next week. Plan is treadmill 2 times (after he goes to sleep or before he wakes) a week and an intense 20 minute ab video that is pretty good and involves the full body 2 times a week to start. But now its juggling who get to work out cause DH goes to gym at night too. So treadmilll is easier since I can be home with DS sleeping upstairs and he can run to gym.
It's just so hard to exercise and get dinner on the table every night when you work full time and get home 6pmish every day Exercise is the thing that gets dumped first.

My gym has a daycare. So I bring dd. Or on Saturday and Sundays DH takes her to the diner or bagel store while I work out for an hour.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
I've been going to a class one night a week and both weekend mornings. I try to do a HIIT cardio workout (20-25 min) one morning a week.
It's tough and some weeks are better than others, but I just do my best.

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
I used to go twice a week during lunch, and every Saturday morning. If you can't try a video in the evening. I like 30 day shred for days I can't get out

Re: when do you find the time to exercise?
So I just want to share what I did this afternoon that may help.
I set an interval timer to 50 seconds work 10 seconds rest. I put a mat on the floor with a small blanket over it. I picked up DS (4 months old). I did 3 rounds of the following 4 exercises, working for 50 seconds and resting for 10.
1. Squat with a calf raise while holding DS out at arm's length looking at me.
2. Alternate side lunges holding DS in cradle position.
3. Sit ups with DS on my knees or stomach and each time I came up I kissed him or laughed at him.
4. Push ups. I put DS on his back on the blanket and kissed him each time I lowered myself down.
This was the first time I had tried something like this and DS loved it! He was laughing and smiling and cooing the whole time! In fact now that we've stopped he's fussing, like he's saying more exercise Mommy!

this is adorable! maybe I'll trying doing exercises with my DS too, to get me started back up. finding the time and motivation is hard but I don't want to let too much more time pass by before I give up entirely lol.
