When do the feedings slow down? (EBF baby)

My 6 week old nurses 12 times a day. She does her last feeding at 10:30 pm and wakes up to quickly nurse at 3 am and 6 am. I'm going back to work and I don't really have a schedule to give the nanny. During the day she can eat every hour or every 2-3 hours. When do you think she will start to eat less frequently?

Is your question about your DC's schedule during the day or nursing at night?
In my experience, babies eat very differently with a bottle from another adult than they do nursing with mom.
My DS, for example, would nurse every 2-4 hours with me, but would eat much less frequently at day care (perhaps 3 times throughout the 8-9 hours he was there). Your nanny and DC will figure out a schedule.
Also, (and I hope this isn't the case for you) my DS actually nursed more frequently once I went back to work since (1) he was eating less frequently during the day, and (2) he missed me (this is my theory anyway).

Mine did when she started solids 4/5 months. My baby though does not drink more then 4.5 oz at a time (pump & feed).

Re: When do the feedings slow down? (EBF baby)

My DD (just about 6 months) eats less when I'm at work than when we are together. She nurses pretty much every 2-3 hours with me, but can go longer strecthes 3-4 hours when DH watches her.

It's all about pacing feedings. BF babies need 1-1.5 ounces per hour, so just make sure to leave the right amount. I typically leave about 13 ounces for DD to cover 9.5 hours. I divide the bottles into 2 four ounces and 1 five ounce.

Also, be sure to use the slowest flow nipple, to make your LO doesn't suck it down too fast.

For DD it was around 4 months that she finally started going 3 hours between feedings instead of 2.
