I was just wondering the same thing. I think they are visible after the baby is born since your skin is stretched out?

My 1st pregnancy they started at around 33 weeks or so. They looked worse immediately after delivery and gradually faded significantly, but - still there.
I don't believe you can prevent them - I think it's all genetics - just how elastic your skin is naturally. Though I would still advocate slathering on the lotion/cocoa butter/whatever potion you think will work by the buttload because hey, it probably can't hurt!
This time around I am hoping I stretched enough the first time so as not to get any new ones!!

mine appeared at about 30 weeks. I was so bummed. I thought I had gotten away scott free! I was pretty darn big already by then!

I heard they are genetic and my mom didn't get them...and at 29 weeks I haven't gotten them..but I do have a linea negra which is just a strange thing for me....

I think it depends on each person. I know a friend who had them at 28 weeks. I have nothing at 25 weeks.

I guess everyone is different, good to know.
I got them years ago on my butt during a rapid weight gain. They have faded over time, but I dread getting them again.
Keeping my fingers crossed for my belly to remain stretch mark free!

don't count on this. My Mom didn't either with 3 pregencies the last being twins and my ugly suckers showed up at 30 weeks!

i'm 38w5d and only got a one or two one my hips. i carried pretty small though throughout. i guess i got lucky bc my mom had them with all 3 of her pregnancies

I didnt have one until after dd was born.. then lost alot of the weight quickly and POP.. they appeared. Now my stomach is yuckie.

i saw a pic of jessica alba looking like her old slim self again in a bikini- you would never know she had a baby. granted, i know they have trainers coming over everyday but still, you would think her stomach would have some sort of tell tale signs of pregnancy...
anyhow, to answer your q, i saw light stretch marks for the first time last night. they are flesh tone but still what the f ?!!?

I agree. I always think this!!!!
make up artists can cover them.. and the photos can be touched up after taken.. easily hidden.. Unless your around her personally im sure you wouldnt know if she did or didnt have. Plus shes got olive skin.. I think the fairer your skin the more noticeable they are.
