When did your LO stop napping?

Just curious. DD turned 2 in April and the naps have been getting less and less frequent and shorter and shorter. There will be a fluke day where she'll nap for like 2-3 hours but otherwise it's 30-45 minutes. And she seems to be in a good mood. She eats, she plays, sometimes she gets frustrated and has a tantrum but generally bounces back from it no problem. She's potty training and doing amazing. And best of all she's out cold when her head hits the pillow at night. Chat Icon I really try and push her to nap on the weekends when I'm with her, but during the week she's with family or at daycare so I have little control over whether she actually does or not.

I think 2 is young but every kid is different. What time does she go to bed at night and wake up in the morning? My kids get a solid 12 hours at night. So that makes me worry less about napping. My first stopped his nap at 3...but he goes down at 7-730pm.

My DD was around 18 months when she stopped napping. She only ever took 30 min naps though. She slept 12 hours a night though so I wasn’t worried about her getting enough sleep.

My son is 3.5 and still naps for an hour and a half. He will ask to nap; we don't force him to. If we are out and doing something fun, he can definitely skip it and then he goes to bed earlier. But if we're home just taking it easy he likes his nap.

My son was almost 5 when he was still taking afternoon naps and had to stop when he started Kindy.

Dd1 was a few months under 3 when she mostly stopped. I kept trying until she was over 3 with occasional luck. She'd either nap 3+ hours or not at all.

Dd2 is over 3.5 and still naps a few days a week for about 2 hours. Now that it's summer she's napping less and less frequently though.

DS turned 4 in May and stopped napping on Monday....and that is only because he started a full day camp program
DD probably stopped around 4 as well, but had 45 mins of "rest time" in her room while DS napped so that mommy had her down time. Maybe once a week or so, she actually slept during that time

When did your LO stop napping?

My DS stopped regularly napping for me at 2 years, 9 months. He’s 4 years, 2 months and still naps for 1.5 hours at Daycare. The nap is causing bedtime issues now. In the fall, when he resume full time Daycare, I’m getting a letter to stop the nap at Daycare.

Damn! I thought I had a little while longer! Chat Icon

She generally gets 10-12 hours of sleep at night. During the week she gets 10 because we have to wake up early to leave for work/daycare, but then she "rests" in the car for 40 minutes on our way to Queens, though she doesn't usually fall asleep. She goes to bed at 8:00 and wakes up at 6:00 during the week or about 7:00/7:30 on the weekends. She does have "rest" time where she just lays on the couch and watches a movie or something, sometimes she'll turn away and nap, but mostly not. She does SEEM fine though. Rarely overly cranky, and if she is, those are the days I push her to nap. I just thought this seemed a little young.

ETA: She did wind up taking a nap yesterday and had trouble falling asleep. She didn't pass out until about 8:45.

My 2.5 year old doesn’t nap on weekends. She naps at daycare because all the other kids do. To be honest, I wish she didn’t because she’s been having trouble falling asleep at night but I don’t want to make life difficult for her teacher.
