My DS is 27m and I feel like it's now time to switch him over to a toddler bed. He still naps for 2-2.5 hours on most days, and I'm afraid that will stop once we make the transition. He rolls around and talks to himself for a good 20m before he falls asleep. If he has the freedom to get out, I don't think he'll stay in bed! What was your experience?

When we moved DS 1 into s queen bed with long rails he still napped the same. Still needed the naps. I stopped the naps at 3 bc he wouldn't sleep anymore at night and wasn't napping as well. He we just ready to stop. If your LO still needs naps then keep napping him.

Oh good to hear! I definitely think he still needs his naps so I will continue to try to nap him. I'm just worried that with this new found freedom, he won't fall asleep anymore and will constantly be getting out of bed. Any tricks to keeping him in there? Did you do some type of reward system?

DD is 21 months. We switched her and she did fine with naps. Has had a couple night time issues, but nothing terrible.
I didn't think she was even close to being ready, but after she jumped out I couldn't risk her doing it again. I am still in shock that she transitioned so nicely.

We converted the crib at 2yo and now she is almost 3.5 and still naps. She went through a phase where she played a lot before napping, but eventually that corrected itself.
