When did you start swimming lessons?
We are going to do the free infant classes at Saf T Swim, but I'm wondering how young people typically started?

When did you start swimming lessons?
I would check with your pediatrician first - not sure how young your child is but my ped would not allow it until after the 9 month shots. There are waterborne pathogens that can cause illnesses in younger children (especially from community pools) - also said ear infections could be worse at that age.

We did classes at the YMCA (a mommy and me class) when she was 15 months old.

We waited until he was about 22 months. We just didn't see a need for it before then. We don't have a pool. Nobody we know has a pool. And we don't go on any boats. We did mommy and me at the YMCA and are still doing it now.

We started at 8 months. Pedi was ok with it as early as 6 months.we go to SafeTSwim in Bellmore.

ITA, as well as the harmful effects of the contained chlorine smell in those pools. I was always very leery about public pools and a young baby.

My ds was 9 months... We go to saf t swim in bellemore. I signed up with a bunch of friends and dome of their babies are as young as 5 months. My ds us the oldest in his class.
As far as chlorine, saf t swim is a salt water pool so no need to worry about the chlorine

We did a mommy and me for two sessions at saf-t-swim when ds was 2. TBH, he didnt seem to retain much of anything and the second session turned out to be just him and me so it was a private lesson. We are now doing swimming lessons one on one at 3 1/2 and its a world of difference. He is actually learning. Im not saying that this is true for all kids, just my opinion.

My ped have the ok at 6 months but I have never been. Didn't see the need for it. I think I will start when DS turns 3.
