When did you start potty training?

DS is 23 months; 20 adjusted.

When and how did you start potty training?

He tells me (sometimes) after he does #2, but never when he pees.

With my oldest, I tried right around 2.5 but he was not ready. I then tried again at 3years 2 months & he got it after 3 days.

My 2.5 year old now is starting to tell me bc he sees his brother going but jot all the time. I will start with him right before he's 3.

Around the time he was waking up with a dry diaper in the mornings. Thatvwasvmy first real sign that it was time to start.

Started very slowly introducing them to the potty at 24 months.
DD1 was trained completely by 2yrs 9 mos.
DD2 was 3 years exactly
DS is 27 months now and we'll see...

Started around 18 months, was done by 23 months. We followed the 3 day rule.

When my DD was 3y3m. Took 3 days to fully train her and it was a piece of cake which I attribute to waiting so long to bother with it.

DS is 21 months and we just bought him a potty last weekend. He goes into the bathroom and will sit next to the toilet whenever he poops. He also hates sitting in it and will come tell me he pooped before we even have the chance to smell it. I am not counting on him being trained anytime soon, especially with DS # 2 due to arrive in 7 weeks, but it would be nice if I had him trained by his third birthday.

Started at 2 years 10 months & he trained in ONE day!! He was amazing!

I followed the 3 day potty training program and she swears that any child over the age of 22 months can be potty trained.

a little over 24 months we did the 3 day potty method over martin luther king day and she is fully potty trained during the day.

Night is whole different story but we went to no diapers at all for day and night and we still are doing it that way.

like the PP said the lady who wrote 3 day method swear anyone over 22 months can be trained and she actually says the older they get the harder it can be.

We introduced the potty to DS a few months before he turned two. He went a few times and was interested in it. But, we didn't push it and he lost a bit of interest when we weren't consistent. At 28 months we started party training and took of the diapers cold turkey. He resisted it a little bit, but within a week, he was trained. Its been a month now, and generally he has no accidents during the day or when we are out. He actually is now super interested in any toilet that is not his own (yah for mommy and public bathrooms! ) He was great at night time for the first month. He had two accidents total, but the past week his been having an accident every few days. I think there is a pattern, in that the nights that he is exhausted and goes to bed later than usual are the nights he usually has an accident. I honestly can't complain about it considering how great he has been doing though.

We started training because we are looking at preschools and the directors freaked me out that he needs to be trained and if he has 3-4 accidents the first month of school they will ask him to leave. Also, he outgrew size 6 diapers. Size 7 diapers are tough to find and much more expensive. So for us, it was time!

that's what I'm hoping for. DD is 29 months and I am in NO hurry to potty train.

DS is 3y2m and has no interest. They take him to the potty at daycare but, he normally just goes in his pull up. I keep on showing him the cool underwear I have bought him but, he has no interest.

I really don't mind diapers either - and I feel I have to be in the right mindset to do it too.

I'm hoping to focus in on it next weekend for the long weekend. I'm trying to figure out what I can bribe him with lol!

When did you start potty training?

DS is 22 months and he tells me when he poops by saying pee and pointing to his coolie, does this mean he will be ready to train soon?

If I ask him if he wants to do pee pee on the toiler he runs to the bathroom and waits for me to put him on the seat, he gets excited when he pees in the toilet and flushes. I think it's the whole act that he likes, I'm not so sure he gets what he's doing.

I was thinking of trying to train him in the summer....he will be 26-28 months in June-August.

Started with DS 2 weeks before his 3rd birthday. Took 1 day. No accidents. Went straight to undies.

I saw no reason to rush it and am glad I waited as doing so made it a completely stress-free, trauma-free experience for us all.

My son had no interest until 3. Tried the 3 day potty trainer and it worked but still had to use pull up when we were out. Finally at 3 yr 3 months it clicked and just started doing it on his own.

DD is 17 months and says pp potty and goes and sits on potty. After the next busy month we have I am goi to try the three day trainer with her. I think it will work with her!

DD- 2yr old. 3 days after her 2nd bday. fully potty trained.

DS's- 2 1/2- so thankful! Both did it together and took it well.

- I chose to do sooner. I felt they were ready. all were very verbal and learned how to control bladder.

I cant stand buying/changing diapers. esp TWINS!


ETA: agree with the above about dry diapers at night. not true.

If anything i find that most cant control bladder at nite and it can take time. Hence my DD.

DS, a week after his 3rd birthday, did it in 2 days.

DD, will be 3 in May, she wants no part of it, but wants to wear her pretty princess underwear over her diaper.

She had already been a few months dry overnight. Meaning she ALWAYS woke up dry. She had set times for #2 and would pee pretty regularly at certain times.

She would tell us after #2 by then because frankly its there and in the way and not fun to carry around. Pee, never told us.

It was like one week and done. My aunt kept up with pull ups and overnights just in case but I cut them off completely she was great. But *WE* put her on the pot often all day and night long. Obviously there was a lot of times it was a miss but the reward and huge deal we made out of success made her realize what we expected of her. Within in a few weeks she was telling us she had to pee all the time! LOL
