When did you put your child in the real bath

And do you have any mat or anything to prevent slipping?

I am thinking Jack is going to be out of the inflatable very very soon. I need to get my act together with this!

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

DD has been going in the real tub since about 10 months - I got a super long non skid bath mat at BBB. She loves to walk around and I fill the tub with toys (I got this set she loves that are like foam buses, cars, trains, road that you can stick on the walls and she will play with that for a long time. The only down side is I have to chase her around the tub to wash her hair b.c she hates that.

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

We just did 6 weeks ago when we moved into the house. DD was approx. 21 months. (yes, she was still in the infant tub until then. Chat Icon Chat Icon ) I just put a bath mat down and she sits on that. I was going to put a duck protector thing on the faucet, but it didn't fit. She seems to love the big tub. She had been in one when we went on trips too.

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

I bought an Elmo mat from Walmart. It works great, no slipping at all.

i still use the "seat" although we've never closed the front of it because of his thighsChat Icon

i don't see me moving away from that anytime soon because it works for us and I'm so afraid of him slipping.

Get a mat! The first few times I gave her a bath in the tub without a mat, it was a nightmare. Or you could even put a towel down.

From about 7 months. Once he was sitting up on his own. #2 went in around the same time. #3 was a little later.

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

Sydney's been in the real bath for a while now. She's 14 months old now and LOVES bathtime. I just have a mat down so she doesn't slip if she tries to stand in the tub.

I am just waiting and waiting for Jack to poop in the tub! Chat Icon

He hates having his hair rinsed - and his face washed. You would think I was torturing the kid! Chat Icon

My DS is 12 months and we also are still using the infant tub. Chat Icon Chat Icon We also have an inflatable tub that we have used on vacation. We may start using the inflatable tub a bit before we transition to the regular tub.

We put DD in the real bath around 8 mos. We never used the inflatable, she went straight from the infant tub. We put a mat down for her though.

Funny you posted this!

Just 3 days ago we tried putting DD in the full tub (she was in an inflatable in the tub) since we FINALLY got the old decals scraped off. Well, DD hated it. Just stood at the edge and cried for the last 3 baths. Chat Icon And it's not like she hasn't taken a bath in a real tub before - she has MANY times! (at my parents' and on vacation)
So, tonight I brought back the inflatable tub! Not sure when I'll try again, but for now, we're sticking with the tried and true. Chat Icon

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

We started when DD was just over a year. We don't have a mat- but I was thinking about getting one because DD like to stand in the tub.

Re: When did you put your child in the real bath

I think around 9 months. We don't use a mat or anything. She likes bathtime, but is not super into it, so it only takes about 5-10 minutes.

C's still in the little tub too, and still fits comfortably...I'll keep her in there as long as she fits, or it becomes a wrestling match to keep her in there-- whichever comes first
