When did you get your 1st Sono?
My Dr's office doesn't do them until 12 weeks! 
At my first appointment I was 7 weeks and 6 days and he put this old fashioned looking microphone up to my belly but couldn't hear anything (ie, no heartbeat). He wasn't concerned at all. But after reading everything on here, I feel like he should be!

I'm not having my first one until I'm 9 weeks and it's killing me to not know what is going on in there. My Dr. doesn't do them before 8 weeks. I think it is pretty common.

My doctors office normally doesnt see you before 8 weeks but I wasnt feeling very well, the morning sickness was taking a real toll on me and I was afraid of being dehydrated. They did blood work immediately and sent me for an immediate ultrasound. Turns out I was only 6 weeks but everything was measuring on target.
My next appt is Feb 18 and I'll be 10 1/2 weeks

First sono was an internal done at 8 weeks.
The doppler (microphone thing you described) typically can't pick up the heartbeat until 12 weeks. My midwife was able to get it at 11 weeks.
Don't stress it. If you aren't a high risk pregnancy they don't always do a sono before 12 weeks, unless you don't know when you conceived.

I have had them as early as 5 weeks and as late as 7 weeks with my p/g's.

I had an emergency vaginal ultrasound at 5 weeks 2 days (I had bleeding).
my first scheduled vag ultrasound was today ...... 7 weeks 1 day

I've been going to an RE so I've had a bunch of sonos.  I had a sono at 5w5d, 6w5d, and 7w5d. I've heard it's not unusual for your regular OB to wait until later in the first tri for a sono.

im going in 3 weeks so i guess i will be 8 weeks with my 1st pregnancy it was done at 9 weeks
i know what you mean though i dont know hw im going to wait 3 weeks to see whats going on in there.

I had mine at 5 weeks then 6 weeks. I was bleeding and considered high risk pregnancy.

1st internal was around 6 weeks. I think my doc's office does it wayyyy more frequently than anyone else. He will do it every time if you ask him to

my dr's office did it at 5W5D but that was only to check if it was ectopic b/c i had some pains on my side. i didn't have a regularly scheduled one till 8W
