She started around 8 months but really didn't have it down pat until well into 9 months.

DS started around 5 months. He would hold it along with me prior to that, then, one day, I just let it go, and BAM he was doing it alone.

Re: When did DC start holding their bottle?

DD is 4mths and right now she has been holding it along with me. At times I do let go of the bottle and she is able to continue to hold it in her mouth for a minute or so before she drops it. I am sure in another month or so, she will have it down to a teeChat Icon

She never really did. Maybe around 12 months, but we got rid of the bottle then and she could hold her sippy, so I guess around 1 year.

Re: When did DC start holding their bottle?

I have the same bottle issues too, she is constantly knocking it out of her mouth.

You know..someone should invent a bottle with handles. Wouldn't that be brilliant? Heck, they make sippy cups with handles.

They do make handle attachments for bottles. I forget which brand, but they do sell them.

Re: When did DC start holding their bottle?

Charlie just started and he's just about 1. He tends to play with it, so I still hold it for him.

Re: When did DC start holding their bottle?

Still waiting at 9 1/2 months. For about a month now she'll hold it if I lay her flat on the couch or in her playpen, but she is too lazy to hold it and tilt it back.Chat Icon

Re: When did DC start holding their bottle?

DS does this too. He is 5 months. He grabs for and tries to hold his bottle but sometimes pulls it out instead. I try to distract him by letting him hold on to my fingers instead.

ETA: He can hold it for a short time by himself but than it usually falls.
