What's your ideal nail length?

I've been trying to grow mine out, and I like them well enough, but I think I prefer them short (not past the tops of my fingers). I'll probably cut them tonight - and then regret it again Chat Icon

How do you prefer your nails?

I bit my nails for years, then just stopped one day. I can usually get them to a little past my finger tips, then they start to peel and split. Right now they are pretty long since I've been keeping nail polish on them. I'm sure they will split any day now.

Re: What's your ideal nail length?

I have small nail beds so when mine only reach the tip of my finger they look short & stumpy. I like them a few mm past my fingertip. I have had very long nails at times & find it uncomfortable.

Short! Anything past my fingertips is not happening. I play music...gotta keep them short or else it feels weird and hurts.

To the end of my finger. Not usually long enough to see when I turn my hand around and look at it from the palm.

I know they are too long if I hear them click on they keyboard when I am typing.

Short. Every time I go to the nail salon they always laugh at how little my nails are. Chat Icon

I used to do long (natural)
then I was doing them short for a long while

Now I'm back to growing them long again.

Re: What's your ideal nail length?

I find that lately- like the past few years- I like them shorter.
Not super short or anything, but not much past my fingertips.
I have VERY long nail beds- so no matter what, my nails look longer than they are.
I find the shorter length is neater and also more practical for typing- which I do ALL DAY LONG!
I do notice when I look back on pictures that I used to keep my nails much longer - maybe 5 years ago or so

Re: What's your ideal nail length?

I like mine short. My nails tend to break easily so they look a whole lot better short than even a tiny bit long.

I too have awesome nails- strong, they grow crazy fast, never split or break. Yet my hair, GOD AWFUL. Fine, fragile, brittle, won't grow long- you name it.
I too, thought it was the same but I guess not. And I too, would give up my nails in a heartbeat for better hair. You can always get gel or acrlyic nails and like you said, who really cares about your nails anyway? Your hair is the first thing people notice.

No, but a few things I think help... I don't always have polish on, maybe one week on, one week off. I keep them short, like this is as long as I like them. I keep them square-ish. I am constantly putting lotion on my hands & rub it into my cuticles, at least 4 times a day. I think I eat pretty well & I think that can help too.

I really think with all of us we have some ‘thing’ on us that we just 'have' be it hair or skin or nails… I know I have hair envy every day and the women I look at just have that gorgeous hair & do nothing, they're just lucky Chat Icon

I have longer nail beds so I keep them short. Otherwise they break.

Same here. I like them even a bit shorter when I do very dark nail polish. I have weird long, thin fingers so my nails start to look creepy when they are too long. Chat Icon
