What would you do? etsy seller related UPDATED

Last May, I ordered a charm from a seller (one that I had previously used). It was a small gift for my SIL and I totally forgot about it. In December, I realized, I never received it. I contacted the seller, who promised to get it out right after christmas. Mid January, still did not receive it, contacted her and she said she would get it out.

Today is the 7th, she is claiming she sent it out on January 28th, regular untraceable mail.

I never have problems with my mail, I'm pretty sure I would have seen it, if it had come in. But now she is getting a little nasty in her messages, saying she ships all over the world, never has a problem, can't understand how I didn't receive 2 of them etc etc. I

It's not expensive and as she is informing me, she's "practically doing it for free" at this point.
would you just let it go? order another one from her?

Re: What would you do? etsy seller related

There's two things that bother me and neither of them are the fact that it hasn't arrived yet.

First. You ordered something in May and it wasn't sent to you in SEVEN months.

And secondly -- she's making comments about how she's 'practically doing it for free'.

The latter annoys me most.

I'd let it go but let her know that you will be leaving feedback about this.

Bottom line is she got your money (no matter how much) and didn't send you anything.

This is why people insure things (on her end) -- and she apparently didn't.

Re: What would you do? etsy seller related

Each time I read her response I get more and more annoyed.

"It was a courtesy as the first one was sent, this one was redone and sent as my expense even though it was 6 months ago and you did not purchase insurance. I don't understand why you are not getting these. Do I have the correct address on paypal? I can redo another but it is getting very upsetting because it is literally for free at this point, as my profit was like $3.00 to start. I am sorry just know we share in the frustrtaion. It was in JUNE that the original was sent."

I agree.

I also want to add...regular mail can take up 7-10 business days (thats if she actually did mail it out). Only reason I know this...is at Christmas time I had a problem with a package I sent out and I was told it would take that long to get to the person I was sending it to. That person received it in 8 business days Chat Icon

I'm sorry but...

Okay! Things get lost in the mail.

But they don't get lost in the mail to the same address to the same recipient from the same sender TWICE.

Bottom line. She's flaking out on you.

While I totally understand your frustration, I like to look at things from both sides and can kind of see it from the Etsy seller as well. She assumes that you have received your product and now SEVEN months later you inform her that you never got it. I would be on high alert but whatever, I'll make another but its the holidays and I'm not making it a high priority. But this person is badgering me. I bedgrudgingly send another and they claim not to get this one eitherChat Icon

At this point if I have confirmed that my address with her is correct, I might offer to pay additional to get it insured.

I could totally understand that, but having 2 of these charms would be pointless. She can't possibly think I'm trying to scam her.

If she mailed them I would assume she has a receipt or some way of tracking them.

It sounds like she's trying to get over.

Re: What would you do? etsy seller related

as a matter of principle I would not just order a new one with her. and i would not jsut let it go either.

i would write her another message telling her that you are an honest customer and you didn't receive the merchandise which you purchased on such and such date and if you don't receive it by such and such date you are reporting it to etsy.

and then follow through with it.

i've had issues with etsy in the past. it's VERY important to report these types of things.

in the end i would still do a review on her and state that it took x amount of time and tries to get your merchandise from her.

sorry, i'm tough when it comes to this stuff. you should get what you pay for... not matter how much or how little it costs... you still paid and it's owed to you.

I would respond with YES it was JUNE that you say you sent it and it's FEB and I still do NOT have the item. That's a huge problem and I'm glad you see that fact.
Please be sure I receive what I paid for or I want a credit.

And you can also notify paypal along with etsy.

Re: What would you do? etsy seller related

Im looking at this from both sides. as someone who runs a business, I'd be suspicious of someone who ordered something in May 2010 and then comes to me in December saying "Hey, I never got the charm I ordered." But like seller, I would be accommodating and make a new one and re-send. Just b/c I like to keep customers happy.

I can tell you USPS has lost tons of stuff on me whether I send it priority with delivery confirmation or regular mail.

Its weird that it got lost twice, but **** happens with the mail.

As a customer, I would not order from this person again. I do not like the fact that she's blaming you almost for not making a profit. thats her problem. Lots of sellers on etsy sell their stuff for peanuts and no one can compete. But you also have to realize that b/c you waited so long to inform the seller there has to be some responsbility on your part as well. I would just order from somewhere else and make sure its insured.

Re: What would you do? etsy seller related UPDATED

UPDATE:
i wrote her back today:
In reviewing my conversations with you, I first contacted you in the beginning of May to purchase the disc, you did not get back to me for almost 4 weeks. When I again contacted you in December, you asked if you could send it out right after Christmas. You did not send it out for another 4 weeks after Christmas. So I think my frustration, is very well founded and expected.

The disc is obviously not something that I could possibly want or need 2 of, so you must realize I'm not trying to scam you in any way. I did not have any issues when I first ordered the necklace from you, nor have I had any issues with any other Etsy seller.

Bottom line is, I purchased something from you and never received it. As a seller, I would expect you to do the right thing and send me out a new one.

SHE WRITES ME BACK THIS!:
I am glad I caught you message before logging off. Your tone is definitly not appreciated. First of all, I sent you first one over 6 months ago AND you never let me know that you didn't get it until the heart of my busiest month when I am working day and night, literally about 3 hours of sleep a night, so I said it would go after Christmas. I mean it was a second shipment, not the first. I had no idea that you never got the first and then when you let me know I did redo a second one for free although I do offer insurance on everything. I have never needed ever to use insurance so that is why I am stumped as to why you didn't get either because the post office normally does not lose anything, but for two packages. I NEVER said you are scamming me, and I do not appreciate you telling me to "do the right thing" becauase that IS what I did, and with no thanks, it was remade and reshipped, even though a very long time passed by. BOTTOM line is that I am not responsible for shipping but I STILL did send another. I am upset that even though I did this you send me these mean convos. I am very honest seller and always willing to do the "right thing" always. So am I expected to send three discs for the amount you paid for one? In your opinion yes I am. How am I supposed to keep affording to create it, if you look at my point of view. Sterling silver is up to $60.00 for 6", not to mention the shipping too. I don't even know what to say. I will make another..but do I have the correct address?

I don't know...I really do see both sides. As a seller, I would be Chat Icon and Chat Icon if I was contacted by a customer six-seven months after I (supposedly) sent a product to first say that they did not receive it.

I see both sides. You are frustrated and so is she. Honestly, at this point, it's costing her more and more money to keep doing this. I think I would just forget it and chalk it up as a lesson learned and not use the seller ever again.

I kind of agree with this.

And definitely get insurance on anything else you buy on Etsy.

What I don't understand is if she is an experienced seller, and the first one wasn't received, why wouldn't she have been more proactive and added delivery confirmation onto the second shipment?

I would just ask her for a full refund and order it elsewhere.

Did she not offer a tracking number for the item? I understand her side but I don't see why she would not get some sort of delivery confirmation on the stuff she sellsChat Icon
