What week are you going to stop working?

I'm wondering what everyone is planning to do.

I am due on May 9th and told my boss that my last day would be April 23rd. I'll be two days shy of 38 weeks. Am I cutting it too close? I know that, technically, at 37 weeks, you are considered full term and could go at any time after that.

With my first daughter, my Doctor gave me a note to stop working at 37 1/2 weeks. I guess I'm doing the same thing now + a couple days. But, with Kaelin, I gave birth a week later. She was 10 days early. Hmmm... I hope I don't go really early with this little Chat Icon .

So... when do YOU think you'll stop working?? What's your plan?

I work until the very moment.
I hope I go into labor at night... but I even thought about taking cab money the last month so that I could take car service to the hospital when I need to.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I am a teacher in NYC so I will be stopping on Memorial Day weekend so I don't have to buy a June Monthy for the LIRR. I will also be having a repeat c/s at 39 weeks so in actuality I will stop working one week before my c/s. (I hope).

With DD my doctor made me stop at 37 weeks.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

With #1 I worked til I gave birth, which was 42 weeks!
I worked from home after 40 weeks.

This time being twins, I plan on working as long as I can. My midwives have already mentioned stopping work early but haven't discussed a date. I only work 2-3 days a week so would like to hold out as long as I can.

I haven't really decided. Since I own my business I'm hoping to work till the week I'm due. If I don't feel well I will certainty be taking off earlier.

When my water breaks... Chat Icon

Serioulsy I have no time off - no maternity leave, no disability- so i need to save every possible minute for after the baby comes.
As it is, I'll have to come back to work when the baby is 6 weeks at the LATEST

(Barring any unforseen complications prioor to the birth that is.)

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I plan on working in the office until the Dr says to stop. After that I plan on working from home so that my maternity leave kicks in when I give birth.

I don't want to use any leave until the baby is actually here, since it S UCKS to begin with Chat Icon

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I haven't really given it too much thought yet, but I'd like to try to work as long as I possibly can. I'd rather save my time for after the baby is here if I can. I could also work from home on the days I'm feeling extra uncomfortable.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I'm 36w 5d and still doing my 2 hour commute. This week I'll be coming in the entire week. Next week I'll alternate working from home and coming into the office. I want to try to come in as much as I can towards the end so none of my maternity leave is used up.

I must say though..Im pretty done at this point...I just want to stay home and relax.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

With DD I planned on working right up until the end (I had a scheduled induction). However, as I got closer and closer, it just got harder and harder to get myself to work. I ended up taking a week off before my delivery date, but found in the end, that really wasn't enough time for me to finish up loose ends at home to get ready for DD.

With this pregnancy, I think I'm going to stop 2 weeks prior to my due date. Especially now since I have a long commute whereas before my office was only 10 miles from home and literaly down the street from the hospital where I am delivering. Now I'm about 30 miles from the hospital and almost 40 from home.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I don't have any planned time to stop working. I was thinkign I would work as long as I was up for it and was feeling fine. I drive to work and have a sitting job, so physically at least, my job is not strenuous. My job is emotionally stressful though - so I think that will dictate a lot.

Re: What week are you going to stop working?

I'm 38 weeks today and at work.

I work for family so I take some liberties (coming in a little later- leaving for doctor appointments, etc.)

Hopefully this baby will come in the next few days- until it does, I will come to the office.
