What was your slowest Internet access speed?
What's the slowest top-speed access you remember to the Internet, or earlier?
I remember 9600baud modems. I had a 19,200 baud modem at college, so I used to flaunt it over non-college people who were stuck with only 14,400 baud.... 
A friend of mine in HS had a 2400 baud modem for a BBS that he used.
I know that 300 baud modems existed (and I think 150baud), but the slowest I owned was 9600, and the slowest I used was 2400.

If you never had to use the phone line to get on the internet and hear the dial-up tones, you wouldn't get it. If you ever had to dial up, you definitely know about speed (or lack thereof.... )

I think I had 28.8 baud in my first computer.
The same computer that had an 80MB hard drive, and the salesguy told my mother that it is the most I will EVER need.

I had dial-up but I don't know anything about what you're talking about. All I know is it was SLOW. I had a computer back when it was MS-DOS and Windows wasn't even thought of! I also had one of those huge old Macs with the itty bitty little screen.

Slooooooow................using Prodigy back in the early 80's on our Apple II E computer. Good lord, it took forever. You had to sit there and listen to the dialing, chirping, ringing, buzzing, etc. before you finally connected. All that waiting to connect all so you could basically check the weather and then have nothing else to do.

My commodore 64 had a modem but I was lil miss THANG when I had 14.4 then I was speeding along in my 36.6 for a while. Dating a guy who worked at the IP and got on a T3 & T1 which made me so fast I couldn't even see when the 'undernet' died on "MIRC" because it was back up so fast for me.
I remember an apt complex he and i moved into that allowed for wiring for a T1 and we were heaven!

It's essentially how fast data travels on a phone line. The higher the number, the faster the speed.

i am certain I used 2400 (or was it 2600?) when I first got onto AOL. I remember having to click on certain access numbers and they would have their highest baud rate next to them. I'm old...I have been on aol (still am...and still have my original screen name) since its beginning. I was even on a similar (or it tried to be) program around the same time but it never took off...think it was imagination or something like that

14.4, 9600 bps! This was in 1996.
I remember clicking on a site and then going downstairs to get myself a soda, figuring that the site would be loaded onto my computer by the time I got back. Or reading an article online, and clicking the "Next Page" button when I was only halfway down the screen, because it took a good minute or two for the next page to load.

REALLY???? Here? you ask this question HERE??
First modem ever? hmmm i believe it was 600 baud (2.4 kbps)... that was quickly updated to a 9.6 then a 14.4 kbps.... im running a 35 mbps now.. so thats what? 35*1024 = 35,840 kbps? you really notice the difference from that only 14.4!!

My dad still refuses to get cable internet!!! He continues to use dial up!!!
