What to expect at sonogram- almost 6 weeks
I have a songoram scheduled for Wed, at which point I will be 5weeks 5days based on my lmp. I did not have a sonogram with DD untiil I was almost 8 weeks along, so not sure what I can expect to see this early?

I had my first visit when I was 5 weeks and some days can't remember correctly. I was only able to see the yolk sac and fetal pole. She asked me to come back the following week to see the heartbeat. The only reason she had us come back the following week was because we wanted to surprised our parents for xmas and that was the perfect time to confirm. Otherwise they would have given me an apt for 8 weeks which was when I went next. Maybe you are measuring ahead and are able to see the flicker! good luck

I had my 1st sonogram at 6 weeks, which I now know is a little earlier then most.
Basically, my used a vaginal sonogram (sounds much worse then it is. Don't worry  ) and we saw a little bean and a flutter (heartbeat) inside of it. My doc said that at that point they look for several things, to see how many there are, to make sure there's a heartbeat, and to take some measurements of it's size.
That was my first appointment so we also went over all of our health histories with him as well.

When I had mine we saw the gestational sac and the yolk sac beginning to form.

What to expect at sonogram- almost 6 weeks
Before 6 weeks you will probably see a yolk sac and a fetal pole. It's possible you MIGHT see a heartbeat if you are measuring a little ahead then what you think. Be prepared that it's an internal sonogram. DH was dramatized when he experienced that LOL! I was exactly 6 weeks and we heard and saw the heartbeat. But I was measuring a little ahead of my lmp.

At 6 weeks we saw the yolk sac and fetal pole. I was nervous because we couldn't see the heartbeat yet but one week later baby had a nice strong hb!

Thanks for all the info.
My first first sono with DD was just before 8 weeks and was internal so I am prepared for that
I have my appointment. tomorrow and am both excited and nervous! I know the chances are pretty good that it may be too early to see the heart flicker, but I also know I am probably going to be nervous until we do get to see it. I don't remember being this nervous with DD!
