Re: what to do with kielbasa
I heat it by simmering in some water, then serve with sauerkraut, good mustard and mashed or boiled potatoes.
I'm not a fan of it fried.

That's a good way to serve it.
I do like it fried. I slice it and fry it in a pan with some margarine. I even scramble eggs with it as well.

Re: what to do with kielbasa
Fry it, or brown it and then put it in a large pot w/dark beer, sauerkraut & some sliced cooked bacon. You can serve it w/either Rye or Pumpernickel bread, mustard and some pierogies (one of my favorite meals)

Re: what to do with kielbasa
I put potatoes and onions in a baking dish salt, pepper etc. then cut the Kielbasa into bitsize slices lay it on top and throw it into the over for about a hour. Potatoes get all soft and yummy and the kielbasa gets nice and crispy!!

Re: what to do with kielbasa
These are some great ideas. I just never ate it growing up (despite it being made every so often), so I don't have much memory as to how it was cooked. Thanks!

Re: what to do with kielbasa
I like to split it in half and then brown it in a pan. Then I put it on a plate and heat up sauerkraut in the same pan that I browned the kielbasa. I serve it with pierogies with sour cream and eat the kielbasa on rolls with the sauerkraut and mustard. Not really diet friendly but so yummy and you must eat it with beer. If you have any leftover you can dice it and put it in an omlette or quiche for brunch.

Re: what to do with kielbasa
I made this and it was really good:
Kielbasa in Polish Sauce Ingredients
* 12 ounces light beer * 1 1/2 cups water * 2 cups chopped yellow onions * 2 pounds Kielbasa sausage, links * Salt * Freshly ground black pepper * 2 tablespoons butter * 2 tablespoons flour * 2 tablespoons white vinegar * 1 tablespoon sugar * 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
Directions
In a saucepan, over medium heat, combine the beer, water, onions and sausage. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook, covered, for 25 minutes.
Remove the sausage from the pan and cool. Slice the sausage into 1 -inch pieces. In a large saute pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for 4 to 6 minutes for a light brown roux. Stir in the vinegar, sugar and the reserved beer and onion mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce to a simmer and continue to cook until the sauce coats the back of a spoon, about 15 minutes. Add the sliced sausage and continue to cook for 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley.
