Thy are actual casts you make of your belly! Its for memories. Some people paint them, decorate them or just leave them in the original "plaster". I have seen them done with moms hands around her belly, like "holding her baby" or dad and moms hands on her belly.
Some of them are really beautiful.
I'm told its best to do it right before you give birth, 37-39 weeks.
