Re: What phrase best describes you?
I voted that I am a SAHM, but I also could easily fall into "I want to help support my family, but they are my priority, not my job". I hate that the $$ earnings fall solely on DH, so I do work PT when I can, but I love being a SAHM and have been out of the work force nearly 4 years and have no desire to go back (I worked for more than 10 years before having kids, so I got to where I wanted to be before stopping).

Re: What phrase best describes you?
I am a workaholic and will do just about anything to move ahead in my career
funny thing is, i just recently got laid off and im going crazy but i know it was bc of the economy not my performance
But my main goal in to climb the corporate ladder
I dont ever see myself as a SAHM either our kids will go into daycare or DH will run a stay at home business

I work to live. I dont live to work. ITA!
I used to be a lot more ambitious than I am now. I think now that I am married and want to start a family ASAP, I just want to help support my family, but they are my priority, not my job.

Re: What phrase best describes you?
I'm definitely ambitious, i want to have a good career that will allow me and my family to have a comfortable life and not have to struggle like what we have been doing. I know money is not everything in this world, but you need it to survive.

I'm between:
I am fairly ambitious and want to succeed in my career
and
I want to help support my family, but they are my priority, not my job
I want to succeed in my career but that doesn't mean my family isn't my priority.

I used to be:
I am fairly ambitious and want to succeed in my career
but now I am:
I want to help support my family, but they are my priority, not my job
I still want to succeed in my career, but it's not as important to me as being a mom.

Re: What phrase best describes you?

Yes, I want to do well in my career and all that jazz
But it will never be at the expense of sacrificing time with the family.
I may never be the CEO or the top dog because of it. But, IMO, I'd rather be remembered as a father and husband who was always there for his family, as opposed to a wealthy, go-getter who made it big, but whose family life was a shambles because he was never around

Re: What phrase best describes you?
I voted for the second one, I am fairly ambitious.
In reality, the phrase that best describes me is "I want to have it all" - a great career AND a great family life.

i am ambitious, but my position can only be advanced by tests, not a$$ kissing or working overtime. my family comes first and i am lucky to be in a job that allows me to spend the most time with them.

Re: What phrase best describes you?
"I am fairly ambitious and want to succeed in my career"
I'm extremely ambitious and motivated, BUT, work is not my life... its what i do to provide my family with what it needs. My outlook is that- if i have to leave my family everyday, it needs to be worth it to me, so i strive to keep moving up the ladder, but without neglecting the reason i am doing it. I dont go to work for personal fulfillment, i go there for a paycheck.

I am an overachiever. I work hard to suceed at work and go above and beyond.
In addition to teaching, I got my adminstrative degree, taught in service classes and generally did a lot extra.
I am on maternity leave and the time with DS is priceless, but I know I will be back in Sept and back to working hard!

Re: What phrase best describes you?
Right now I am kind of a workaholic, but I don't have kids yet. In addition to my full-time job, I teach 2 MBA classes a semester and am finishing my dissertation this semester. Every night is spent on work, either teaching or my dissertation. I am embarrassed to say I am teaching a grad class that I haven't had time to read the entire textbook yet...I know the material already, so it's OK, but I am too busy with work to be as prepared as I used to be. If work wasn't my life, I never would have gotten my doctorate. I would have stayed at my well-paying job and been fine. But I'm also a masochist. I think things will change when I have kids though.

I voted other because I am extremely ambitious in my career, but my family is the most important thing in the world to me. When I'm at work, I'm all about work, but when I'm at home, I'm all about home.

Re: What phrase best describes you?
I voted other -
I'm very ambitious but grounded. I believe you can have it all, but not all at the same time.
also - I'm not a SAHM but can't they be workaholics too? There's a mom in my apt building who is super organized, her kids eat 100% organic, her children are very polite, she always looks beautiful and not at all frazzled and their apt is stunning. . . and she does not have a cleaning person or day care. I'd say she's a workaholic (and I mean that in a good way)
