 | BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula Nate usually drinks 4 oz of the ready to use formula and is perfectly fine with it. One day, I tried to use the powder version of the same formula and he didn't get full from 4oz of it. He ended up drinking 5.5 oz of the power formula before he was satisfied.
Is this normal? What has been your experience with Powder and/or Ready-to-use formula?

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula We had Sarah on RTF for the first 2.5 months and then tried powdered and she would have no part of it. She stopped eating and it took about a day until she would take a bottle again. She must've been really hungry. It was a lot foamier when I shook it up, so maybe that's why he's eating more? There's more air in it? |

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula I had started Nick on the RTF, and after a month or two I tried to give him the powdered formula - he did not want it!! He kept spitting up and gagging. The ped. told me that there was no difference between the two, but try telling that to Nick! I went back to the RTF after that. Next baby, I will start on powder right from the get-go. |

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula I've always used the RTF with Andrew, but a co-worker of mine said that she tasted both the RTF and the powder and that the powder tasted so much better. I guess she was taste testing for her girls! Anyway, I thought since the powder was cheaper I would give it a try, but I never did. |

		| | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula My niece had both, powder and RTF...she never had a problem with either. When we used powder for her, we shook it, poured the formula into another glass, then slowly poured it back into her bottle...all the gas bubbles stayed in the glass and didn't go back into her bottle. |

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula My son would not tolerate the powder at all!He was BF & RTF. I tried using the powder, but he got sick from it. Most Mom's I knew tried with the same results. I think you have to start the powder right away.

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula Kiera goes back and forth between the 2 with no problems at all. And she was BF for the first 3 months. At the 3 month mark we started introducing formula. We started with the powder one. She did not have the ready to use until she was 6-7 months old. |

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula I find the powder is more liquidy while the rtf formula is thicker thats why they drink more of the powder. Also there is a difference in taste.
I had Marissa on the rtf from the begining I tried the powder she didn't want it at all. I also tried the cans where you add water to that and she drank that as well and they are cheaper then the ready to feed as welland have pretty much the same consistancy

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula Juliette is BF'd and supplemented with 2 bottles of formula a day. She will not take the premixed formula at all. Powder is more like breastmilk consistency, I guess. |

 | Re: BTDT Moms: Powder vs. Ready-to-use formula I use the powder formula. I am starting to wean him off the breast. I haven't tried RTF but he seems to like the powder just fine. |
