 Bad News!
I was at the doctors last night and he said my swelling is very bad, I am retaining loads of fluid and my blood pressure is slightly elevated! I am starting to become pre-ecclamptic(sp?)
Only I am not working Iam finishing up student teaching and I have a few more weeks till two long years of hard work and sacrifice pays off. If I stop now I won't graduate!
I begged him to give me another chance and he wants to see me next week to see about the swellingto make his decision!
Anyone have these symptoms on the board

 Re: Bad News!
a friend of mine had that, it can be very dangerous for you and the baby.
  I'm so sorry :(
ETA: She and the baby were just fine, she just had to have the baby a few weeks early.

 Re: Bad News!
I totally have my and my health first and foremost in my mind but I would be really devasted if I fall short of graduation because of a few hours of student teaching time

If you have to stop student teaching is there anyway you can make it up given the circumstances? 's to you too, I hope everything will work out for the best!

 Re: Bad News!
On your off time, I would stick to strict bed rest for the next week, until your next appt and see if that helps. By strict bed rest, they mean TOTAL bedrest other than going to the bathroom. It stinks...it happened to me with my 1st pregnancy, but if it can get you through the next few weeks of student teaching, WELL worth it!!! Good luck

I agree with this plus looking into anything else you can do to alleviate the water retention -- drinking more water, laying on your left side when you are in bed, plus anything else your doctor can suggest. When you come home, even do your lesson plans or your school work in bed with your feet elevated. Good luck to you. I understand how you feel about finishing up the student teaching.

 Re: Bad News!
Speak to comeone at your college and explain the situation. Ask them what would happen IF you weren't able to complete your student teacher hours because of your health. I would think they would be willing to make an exception and maybe have you do some other kind of work to make up for it.

 Re: Bad News!
Moe- I agree with the trying to rest for a few days idea...maybe if you take a few days off now you can help alleviate the problem before it gets worse. Sorry hun, I KNOW how hard you work for school.

 Re: Bad News!
I had preeclampsia during my pregnancy, My doctor first told me to take it easy and stay on bed rest, i did not fully listen to her. I did eventually stay on bed rest for 2 months and had my daughter 7 weeks early. SHe stayed in the NICU for a short while after. Thanks God she is healthy. Try and take it easy now, I know it is hard when there are other things going on - but don't take any chances. I wish i had when she first told me to take it easy. Take care of yourself.

 Re: Bad News!
Moe, Please Please be careful, my girlfriend had this and had to be on bed rest. she and her daughter are healthy but it was very scary for my girlfriend, her BP sky rocketed and her face swelled up beyond recognition b/c she continued to work. I would ask for an extendance in your situation to finish at a later date due to medical conditions, get your doc to write a letter. Its worth a shot, best of luck to you, and keep off your feet!!!
