 Stupid question about dressing baby...
Do you have to the onesies on when you put those sleeper outfits on them.
I guess yes since it's like wearing an undershirt under your clothes

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
My pediatrician said the baby should be dressed in one layer more than I need since they have very little fat on their body

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
I do all year round except in the summer. But since we run the AC at night I kept her in the cotton long sleeve/long leg sleepers.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
I never put a onesie under his pj's only because it is too warm for him. I have those fleece long sleeve sleep sacks and a with a onesie underneath he would wake up sweating.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
Nope, I didn't. I never put onesies under the PJs. He wears feety PJs and the fleece Sleep Sack. It's not good for them to overheat in their sleep so I don't over dress him for bed.

I should have said that I don't use one of those sleep sacks or a blanket. Just the PJs with a onesie underneath.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
My baby will be a spring baby with summer following right behind it because I am due May 26. So just a sleeper with long sleeves is fine?
If I do put on a onsie with short sleeves on what else do I put on with it though...I a pair of cotton pants?

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
Nate was born on June 1st and I always put a onsie on under his sleep sack. We had the AC on so I wanted to make sure he was warm.
The only time Nate doesn't have a onsie on is when he taks a bath.
ETA: If I put the sleeveless sleep sack then I would put a long sleeved onsie. I also had long sleeved sleep sacks and I would put a short sleeved onsie under them.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
Aidan was born on May 27th, I always used onsies, and still do~! Hard to find 3T onsies LOL
I put a onsies under his pj's til about End july, if it was *that* hot then he would only be wearing the onsie anyway and no pj's. Or a pair of "lounge pants" as I called them, Old Navy has tons of them, very lightweight.
Come the fall and winter he wore a onesie, fleece pjs and then a sleep sack.
Last summer there were lots of times he didn't wear one, but if its the least bi cool, I cannot stand to see baby skin peeking out. Its a pet peeve of mine I like to keep him covered even if it a thin light layer....
  HTH!

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
We've all been there. Just remember you're going to be dealing with air conditioning in the summer. So an extra layer on at night isn't a bad idea.

I don't put onesies under PJ's unless its a frigid night. Overheating a baby increases the risk of SIDS. I put them under going out clothes if its chilly out if its warm I don't. There is no right or wrong. Its up to you as the mom what you want to do.

I put onsies under Alex's pjs, but I don't use a sleep sack. He has a blanket but he never uses it, he sleeps on top of it.

      youre a riot !
WE all have these paranoias the first time around, dont worry
I remember when we first drove J Anthony home from the hospital, when the car hit a bump in the road we both panicked
Now we're like, "isnt that cool, doesnt that feel like a roller coaster ????" and they LOVE all the hills we live near

Same here, Alex tends to run quite hot, so a onesie under her pj's would cook her!

how does one know if baby is too hot or too cold?

I use the one layer more than yourself rule and feeling his hands. If they are cold I add another layer (even though some babies just always have coldish hands)
I know Aidan is not over bundled because we keep the heat lower at night and if I am cold without a blanket on I keep an extra layer on him since he does not keep a blanket on.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
I was positive that the "one more layer than you" rule was only for when it's colder out. I don't usually put a onesie under his PJs unless it's chilly in the house.

Re: Stupid question about dressing baby...
I never put onesies under pjs - I usually put a T-shirt, especially when the pjs have an embellishment that is a bit scratchy on the inside. I found that to be more common with girls stuff than boys though.
