What is everyone doing with their wedding dress now?

I had mine preserved in the hopes of making it into a christening gown but they were not able to get all the stains out and I don't think my train was long enough to even do anything with it.

So now I have an expensive dress in a box. The only thing I can think of is maybe make 2 ring pillows for when each child gets married and then throw out the rest.

I haven't done anything with it, but I am honestly considering donating it.

I dont know what to do with it. Its a lot of money to preserve it and am I really ever going to look at it??? I am not a sentimental person.

I am thinking of donating it - but I feel like thats bad luck or something.

Someone suggested I save it , then make a christening dress for my daughter one day. We can pass it down, generation to generation

I just posted my confession on another thread, but here it is again...mine is still in the garment bag, dirty, from my August 2006 wedding I didn't want to pay $$$ to have it cleaned & preserved, and it's off-white, so I don't think it would be good for a christening gown. I kind of have forgotten all about it. If I could sell it for even like $200 I totally would, but it's too much of a hassel I think.

still sitting in the garment bag since 11/05. I keep putting off getting cleaned and preserved. I didn't get any stains on it, but not sure if I will ever get it done

My dress is preserved and in a box under our bed. The organza hem was ripped and hasn't been repaired but it's clean.

I'm hoping my DD will make use of it for her wedding. Maybe not wear it as is, but transform it into what she wants. It's a beautiful silk gown and I worked my a** off to pay for it so I can't bear to part with it.

I too hope that my baby girl will someday want to wear or do something with it to make it apart of her wedding or a christening gown for her baby.

Just made my dh put it in the garage as there was no more room in the closet.

I now have 3 (yes 3) gowns in waiting...one was from my 1st engagement that didn't formulate to marriage, the second is my wedding gown and the third is a gown my brother recently discovered while cleaning out the house he bought. Brand new, tags and all in a David's bag. I'm thinking of keeping it because it's a stunning gown (maybe someday I'll get to wear it) or putting all 3 up on Craiglist or Ebay and seeing what I can get.

mine is still hanging in my closet too...unlceaned from my wedding last year. I don't think I will do anything with it.


...Maybe put it on and re-enact the Freinds skit where the girls drink beers in the wedding gowns!!!

It's preserved in a box upstairs.

hanging in the closet of my childhood bedroom, in the garment bag, uncleaned since 7/05. My mom harassing me constantly about doing something with it but I don't know what to do. It had a lace overlay and the bottom is all torn up and black! everything else looks great, but I'm jewish so there will be no christenings for our children.

My mom has it at home...I want to donate it (it didnt cost very much and what could I possibly do with it now)

She suggested I save it in case my daughter would want to wear it one day- I think she's remembering all the times I tried on her dress when I was younger and played "wedding" in it

So now I feel bad and dont know what to do

i got married in dec 05 and it is still hanging in the garment bag dirty. i am going to save it and hope my daughter can make something of it when she gets married.

Dirty and in the bag since 8/05 hanging in mom's closet. I have no idea what i'm going to do with it. Mine is champagne so no good for christening. Anyone wanna buy a dress?

I had mine preserved & sealed in a box but dont know if my daughter will ever wear it.....she is 25 now & much bigger on top than me.

I donated mine. I would never wear it again. I would never make it into something else. It was taking up space I didn't have. It went to an organization that resells them and uses the proceeds to help children.

It took me almost 2 years to bring it to be cleaned. My Dh had to drag me, sobbing to get it cleaned. I was the that girl that would wear the dress around the house and watch tv and eat popcorn in it!

Now it is taking up space in my closet....i know my future daughter prob wont want to wear it, so thinking of making it in to a christening gown.
