Money is the norm. We normally give between $75.00 and $100.00

We got a lot of money and savings bonds for both kids. I would say that's the norm.

Re: What is an appropriate gift for a baptism?
I give every child a Bible with a personal letter in it that I start working on as soon as I find out the mother is pregnant. I tell the child that their baptism is the beginning of their journey of faith. I also tell them that DH and I will always pray for them, their parents, and siblings (if applicable). At the end of the letter I put a special Bible verse that DH and I pick out together especially for the child.

Money if I don't know them well, but if I do I get a small childs bible and put a sweet message inside the cover and a sterling silver cross that is blessed by the priest or whoever if preforming the baptism. I usuall pull the priest, or whoever, aside before or after, during pictures and they have no problem blessing the cross. Do what you feel comfortable with.

Ita - those are always great - if you want to give money - $50-100 or more if you feel it is appropriate if you are a friend is very nice and generous.

Money or a savings bond. The closer family will probably take care of the crosses and other religious stuff.

Re: What is an appropriate gift for a baptism?
I give $50 if it's just me or if we are mailing a check because we can't attend. For close family, $150.
