What has been your best family vacation so far?
Looking for ideas. I think I want only low key vacations going forward.
I think Atlantis has been my favorite to date. We stayed at the Cove so the rooms were new and spacious. There was something for everyone. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Our kids probably like our Orlando vacations best but I'm always EXHAUSTED when we return.

I think it also depends on the age of the kids as well. We have been going to Aruba every year since the kids were born. This year was the first year I really enjoyed it and it wasn't so exhausting. Also helps to have a timeshare. The more room the better. Kitchen and separate bedroom.
We also loved DW we went to in Oct, which we also stayed at a timeshare and rented a car.

The only "big" vacations we have taken with the kids has been DIsney....Otherwise our vacations ahve been driving distance...
All our faves would be the disney cruise we took last spring. 4 nights on the Dream

We definitely plan to do a Disney cruise sometime this year. Hope it isn't exhausting like the parks.

Aruba best Family vacation.
Close second was Caribbean cruise on RC Oasis. The kids loved the boat (ages 2 & 13 at the time).

How was the children's entertainment and activities on Oasis?
That boat looks amazing.
We are leaning towards Disney as our next vacation but I'm afraid the kids won't like non-Disney cruises if we do Disney first.

This is our problem, but honestly its not just hte kids. DH and I are worried about this too. The attention to detail and hte level of service on Disney I am not sure we will find that elsewhere. We are most likely going on either a Norwegian or Royal cruise for our next big vacation, but I wont lie, I am hesitant.
The cruise wasnt as tiring at all.DS1 loved hte kids club, and we put DS2 in nursery (only for 3 hours total) but that gave us a break to go to dinner with out the kids and do something alone with DS1 and same alone wiht just DS2. IMO its one of those vacations that has something for everyone. We went to DW before hand and left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed (our first WDW trip with 2 boys) went on the cruise and never felt that way.
PS I am intimiated by the Oasis and Allure now. Max capacity on that ship is over 6200 where as Dream is 4000 while I understand that Oasis is significantly larger than dream the numbers are overwhelming to me.

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
We've taken a couple - Strousburg, PA/Dutch Wonderland and Yellowstone National Park. I think Yellowstone stands out as the best vacation because it was with family - and my DD repeats what she did and saw there more than any other vacation or trip we've taken. It's only been 3 years, so we have more memories to make, but this is what stands out to me.

Our kids are still young: 2 & 3 I found cruises to be the best we've done with little guys... Been on 2 & have 2 booked for this year! Disney was fun too, but we do it low key & just do 2-3 days at magic kingdom only. The rest of the week is pool or beach.

To me, nothing beats an all inclusive with little ones... Not having to drive anywhere to go eat... Having someone cook for you... To go back to the room easily for naps... To come and go as you please between the beach and pool... Just a nice relaxing vacation!
ETA: we've only done that once with dd... Went to dreams la Romana in DR when she turned 1... Had a very nice trip!

They have a lot of stuff for the kids and to be honest between island hopping, there were things I didn't take advantage of or do.
They had Dreamworks parade in the evenings and meet and greet the characters. There are the pools, there was a carousel, Ice skating rink (didn't go to), movie night, theater shows geared towards kids & adults. Just walking on the promenade was fun (you felt like you were in Las Vegas).
The kids loved the Donut shop lol. They also had kid crafts and itineraries set up. The boat in itself was awrsome. The kids also loved the islands becuase of the calm, Caribbean, blue water. Lol
There is just so much and it was about 2 yrs ago when we went .

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
For both parental sanity and kids enjoyment, we go to Hilton Head Island every year. Its SOOOOO relaxing. Nothing to do but eat and go swimming and go to beach. Still tons for the kids to do, mini golf, petting zoo, horseback riding, boat rider, waterspouts, sightseeing, children's museum but we spend most of the time just hanging at the beach. Ive been going there every year since I was 12, and now in my mid 30's it is still my favorite place to go and now with our children.

We honestly live going to our timeshare in Orlando. We only do one park, one day and spend the rest of our time at the pool.

This sounds great! I'll have to look into it. We're relocating to North FL so it will be a closer drive. When vacationing with the kids I want it to be relaxing and fun.
We've done Disney twice with DS (4 yo now) but it's been nice bc we didn't plan every minute of the day and didn't make it out to be a trip were we had to do x,y,z. We didn't plan anything except 1 character meal. This kept the stress level down. Our trips to FL have always been really enjoyable.

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
I have 2 that I loved equally Aruba and Disney
Aruba was an all inc. and it was just an easy trip to stay in one place and have everything at our fingertips
Disney was so much fun. We all had a great time and couldn't wait to go back as soon as we left.
Other trips we have been on either have been stressful because we were shlepping back and forth to places outside of the hotel and trying to coordinate naps and meals.

Disney Cruise on The Dream!
By far my favorite family vacation! DS was only 14 at the time. And his reaction seeing the characters for the first time is something I will NEVER forget. I was hysterical crying at his excitement Everything on the cruise was perfect.

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
every year we rent a house out east (usually north fork) and it has been awesome, better every year. Its so relaxing. We don't really plan much ahead of time... just go with the flow.
You can easily hit all north fork point of interest, head down to the south fork (sag harbor, hamptons) even take day trips to CT!

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
Hmmm, we really really enjoyed T&C but at the time we only had DD. But it was an amazing and relaxing vacation! We went to Disney in October. I'm glad we took DD (4) because she really enjoyed it but DS was only 18 mos and IMO way too young for it. I would never go back with a child that age, lol. Last summer we went to LBI with a few other families and had a great time! Very family friendly and not far at all. Would definitely go back there.

This is so sweet! This actually made me cry. Cannot wait to do this cruise after hearing all the raves.
DD is only 7 1/2 mos so we really haven't been anywhere yet. I'm looking forward to Disney cruise and WDW (I've never been!), and also Eden Roc Resort. PP mentioned Hilton Head, which also sounds really great.

Re: What has been your best family vacation so far?
We loved the disney cruise, but I didn't find it very relaxing. That might be because we did 3 days at disney, then a 4 day cruise. It was a lot of running around, unpacking then packing then unpacking again for 4 kids. We will do it again but it will be when my youngest two are old enough for the clubs, and we will just do a longer cruise with no disney world tacked on.
As far as low key vacations, we have been to Naples FL several times and love it. The Ritz is super family friendly, though expensive, but we enjoyed the Naples Grande as well.(It had a great water slide) We were there spring break and both had tons of activities for kids. The beaches are lovely, cute town and zoo. Also a botanical garden that my kids really enjoyed. West coast of FL is much more chill than east coast I think (fewer new yorkers lol). I hear good things about Sanibel as well though I have never been there. I also like Bermuda a lot. Short flight, nice beaches. For kids there is a zoo/aquarium, crystal caves which are very cool, snorkeling, glass bottom boat. Southampton Princess is my favorite hotel there. The service is great and there are a number of different restaurants on property so you dont have to leave. It is out of the way but there is a ferry to Hamilton. We were at Atlantis years ago and I found it to be a little nuts. This is before they opened the cove, though. My sil took my older boys there last spring break and they said that while it was fun, they could only really go on the slides early in the morning or late because during the day it was overrun with cruise ship passengers. That turns me off going back there again, though the cove looks lovely.
