what exactly happens when you go to the Dr???

An IUI is intra uterine insemination...so basically, your dh, has to produce a sample of semen...and then the semen gets washed in a lab. Then, after the sperm is separated from the semen, from the washing it's put into a test tube. The doctor inserts a spectulum,....as if he is doing a pap smear and then a tiny catheter is placed through the cervix carrying the sperm. They place the sperm directly into the uterus. That's an IUI.
BTW, there are different sperm washing techniques and it's interesting to know which technique the clinic you get your iui done at uses.
