What formula to supplement with when EBF?
I'm thinking of introducing formula in case of an emergency where I'm not around or to use with her cereal. I don't pump often, so I don't have much stored up (I'm so lazy, I'd rather feed her than pump).
What did other BF moms wean to/supplement with?

Re: What formula to supplement with when EBF?
My good friend is a NICU nurse and she suggests using GoodStart or Gentlease, she says these are the most like BM.

I used Similac Advance Organic to supplement, no issues.

That's interesting to me b/c I know a lot of babies have problems with the iron (my DS did) and that is why Gentlease usually works the best. It is made by Enfamil.

Re: What formula to supplement with when EBF?
all formulas are so similar due to gov't regulation, frankly, I don't think there's much of a difference
we use earths best organic just becuase I prefer organic dairy, so I might as well give it to DS too...
the differences between brands and which is best for your DC is likely unique to your baby's digestion and preference... and since you're EBF, you'll just have to guess...

Maybe b/c the hospital gave her one time and no reaction so he told me to stick with it.

I was JUST going to post this
Formula is regulated by the government, so it has to meet certain standards, but the make up of each formula is very different!

All formulas are required to have iron.

Re: What formula to supplement with when EBF?
I would go buy a can of generic Target brand and try that. If there is an issue, you can switch to something else.

Re: What formula to supplement with when EBF?
Gentlease has the same amount of iron as regular formula. It's different because the milk proteins are broken down making it easier to digest. Same for Goodstart.

Enfamil with LIPIL. That;s what my ped recommended but personally, although they all might be different - I don;t think that you will go wrong with any name brand.

well, becuase I was curious, I looked up the ingredient list. I checked out an enfamil, a similac, and a goodstart. I compared it to my earths best... very little difference

Correct. But we are talking about Gentlease/Similac Sensitive/ProSobee/Nutramigen, etc.
