What do you use on newborn's butt to PREVENT diaper rash?
At the hospital they used petroleum jelly. Wondering what everyone else uses.

for the first couple of weeks we used vasaline every time we changed her.

didn't really use anything after first week, just frequent diaper changes. I used aquaphor tho. still do unless it warrants desitin.

I swear by this stuff and use it at every diaper change (pee or BM). DD is 6 months and hasn't had diaper rash once. Her tush hasn't even been red or chaffed in any way. Its a bit on the pricier side -- $7.99 at BBB but you can use a 20% to save a bit --- but its one of the only ointments that IMO spreads very easily and has absolutely no smell. The medicinal smell of A&D ointment makes me gag. Gross. Image Attachment(s):

Same we only use Desitin at night since he is in a "dirty" diaper longer

Coconut oil 2-3 times a day. Desitin in the event of an actual rash.

Nothing unless she's red. Then it's triple paste or butt paste.
Same with Dd1 and she didn't get a rash til she started teething.

nothing unless there's a rash. Then it was butt paste.
I was always told you don't want to use something for no reason (like desatin for example) bc then their body becomes immune to it.
