Newborn Moms - Diaper Rash Questions

What diaper rash cream do you use? Do you use it on every change as preventative or only when needed?

LO has his first diaper rash. I have no idea how, since we change these kids literally every 2 hrs!?!?!

I have been using triple paste but my baby nurse swears by A&D.

and last question, do you prefer tube or jar? Sorry so many questions, just a lil confused in this department

we put tons of a&d on. Triple paste and butt paste made it worse

My little guy keeps getting horrible diaper rash and we change him often too. I was told by my Pediatrician Desitin, which we have been alternating with butt paste every diaper change. It seems to help. I honestly think it comes from his formula. Also corn starch may help just to keep things dry in the diaper.....We also coat his diaper with Vaseline...so typically he has this and then one of the above creams. desitin extra strength worked for my dd. Also I only use baby wipes when she has a bowel movement. Otherwise I use a wet cotton ball and then a dry one to make sure she is dry. My Dr recommended this and the diaper rash went away and hasn't returned

I use aquaphor and only when needed. But are you sure it's diaper rash? B/c my DS had what I thought was diaper rash when he was about a week old, but it was really yeast. The ped prescribed Nystatin and it went away it less than a day.

Desitin extra strength worked great for my DS also I don't use regular baby wipes I usually use viva paper towels cut up with warm water or Ultra sensitive Babyganics baby wipes. It worked wonders and hasn't had a rash since.

we use the preventive A&D every day but she had a diaper rash and then we used the a&d for treating diaper rash and it went away. Since then we just put on more a&d then we were before and its been ok since

Try putting a&d on then desitin or balmex or other cream on top of that. Cleared up dd fast

we use vaseline at every change unless someone is a little red. then desitin. One of them got red in the nicu, and then it happened again when we switched wipes

Destin Max (its in the purple box) it works wonders. I always get the tube, I hate jar it gets all over your hands.

My ds had a little bit of a rash a couple of weeks ago and the extra strength desetin cleared it right up.

I have tried Butt Paste, Triple Paste, & Burts Bees, I find Burts to be the best. I would use something that has the highest percentage of zinc oxide and don't use wipes until it goes away, just use wet paper towels.

DD has very sensitive skin, so we use wet paper towels a lot.

I tried everything and it ended up being the wipes that I was using.

I had to go with an Aloe Free wipe.
Target sensitive has been the only one that works.

When Laila had a rash, I brought her to the ped because she started to have white bumps. She needed an antiobiotic cream. The dr said, next time she starts to get red, use Desitin.

We've been doing that and she's been good! I like the Desitin the best.

The A&D didn't work for her.

We use Aquaphor if she's not red for every change.

We use nothing at each change. He hasn't gotten a rash yet but when he got a little red, I did use A&D because that is what they used in the hospital. All my friends like Burts Bees so I have that for when the A&D runs out.
