I dont even know where I got that from but I've answered my phone like this for years. I have always had a direct line tho. You can't reach me unless you know my direct number or being transfered.
When I answer the 'company' line its "This is XYZ, can I help you" instead.
Yeah lame I know. 
I will say my tone is always cheerful and expectant like "This is Veronica" says What can I help with? As if you were sitting there thinking who can solve this problem and my answer "this is veronica" like right here right here, I can do it! LOL
