what do you keep on your nightstand
dh always yells that my side is a mess
i have a small lamp, my vitamins, a book, alarm clock, tissues ,chap stick and a bottle of water

alarm clock
crystal cross, precious moments bride, ceramic angel and ceramic elephant - all very special gifts to me
I have nothing "useful" out in my bedroom at all - I like to keep it very neat and only have decorative items out with the exception of the remote which DH keeps on his side anyway and I am always hiding it in his drawer LOL

My side always looks more "busy" (aka messy) than DH's but we both have a number of things.
I have:
Lamp
Candles
Tissue box
chapstick
coaster
glass of something to drink
sometimes something random like a magazine, book, eye mask.
DH has:
lamp
alarm clock
two picture frames
coaster
remote (sometimes on my side)

A lamp, the alarm clock, the phone, a book, a pen, a notepad, and usually a hairband or clip and some jewelry - whatever I was wearing and took off right before I got in bed.

Everything else I keep in the drawers on the night stand. (And we still haven't gotten lamps yet for the bedroom so as soon as we get those they'll be added to the list).

i must be really boring! all i have is a placemat thingy - (supposed to be for kitchen but its realllly pretty and i got it on clearance for $1 at homegoods- its silk with beads) a lamp and my alarm clock!

We don't have nightstands.
My dresser is right up against the bed and has a lamp, the clock/radio, a basket of "stuff" (lotion, bandaids, hair bands, wrist splints), a little shelf thingy with vitamins and nail polish/tools, a jewelry box, three wooden boxes with my dogs ashes in them, a writing pad and some pens, and a makeup bag ... I think that's it! 
Forgot about the box of tissues!!

I have this too!! Actually, instead of vitamins I have my glasses while I sleep.
