What do YOU find to be the most kid-friendly beaches around

And why?

Close parking?
Not a long walk to the water?
Far enough away from the water that you don't have to stress?
A park?

Thanks!

I always really like Florence beach in massapequa. It is really small, has a nice play ground, you don't have to walk far either.

For me I think proximity to the water and car is important. A nice playground doesn't hurt either!

ETA: I do north shore beaches:
Centerport - virtually no walking at all :)
Crab Meadow- Nice playground
Sunken Meadow- Boardwalk, playground and nice water (not as rocky as the others).
West Neck is nice too.

As I said on the other thread, I've brought the girls to Zach's Bay at Jones. Parking is SO close. The bathrooms and the concessions are right there and it's still water so no one's getting washed out to sea. Chat Icon

West Meadow Beach and Cedar Beach. Both parking lots are close to the water and have playgrounds. I think West Meadow has a sprinkler area. They did a few years ago but havent been there in a while so not sure if its still there.

Local town beaches.

Everything is right there within yards from each other.

Parking is literally right on the beach. Close to the water. Playground
Rrestrooms. Food shack

I think the name of the street is south bay avenue, the street across from Town Hall off montauk highway, go all the way down to the end.. If anyone is interested It would be a perfect spot to play.

We go to Meschutt Beach in Hampton Bays. It's a tiny beach, you park and walk maybe 10 feet. Great snack bar, clean bathrooms, and 3-4 lifeguards for a 30 ft. stretch of sand. And it's a bay beach, so no big waves.

West Meadow is GREAT for kids. Its the shortest walk from the parking lot. There is a fenced playgroud, and fenced sprinkler area. Bathrooms. Great for playing when its low tide. There is also a road closed too to cars great for exercise (jogging stroller, biking with kids, etc). Its for town of brookhaven residents only though.

The closest, easiest and quickest for me is Theodore Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay. I can practically walk there and it's nice and tiny. And on the bay, so no ocean waves.

Another one we love is Ransom Beach in Bayville.

It's much longer of a ride, but if I am in the mood, I take the kids to Tobay.

You need to be TOB resident for each.

Do you have to be a Mass resident?

No it is a TOB beach so you pay to get in.
