what do you consider to be expensive for....
for example for a pair of shoes...or a handbag???
i think i am a cheap cheap person deep down.
now that said i will spend 40 bucks on a foundation or 20 on a lipstick...
but once i see a purse or shoes cost more than 50 dollars i get turned off.
i think i would rather have a bunch of bags for 20-30 bucks than one that cost hundreds and the same for shoes.
thoughts?

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
About $85 for shoes. I have a hard to find size, so I can rarely get shoes on sale.
I rarely buy bags--I have to love something to spend more than $50--the most I spent I think was $180 on a Longchamp bag.

Shoes over 125 (I have hard to fit feet so I begrudgingly often end up spending about that amount). Bag over 250 (I keep my bag a while before getting a new one).

shoes i stay under $100...bags are different. I just bought an MK for $400, but for a regular hobo bag i would keep it to about $200

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I am not a shoe person. At all. So to me- if it's more than like $50 I think it's too much. Even $50 is pushing it for shoes.
For bags- I usually only buy a bag once every 2-3 years. So I will buy a decent bag-and use it to death. But again- no more than $250-$300. No way in HELL you'd ever see me with an LV or anything. I just can't justify a bag that costs a mortgage payment. And DH would kill me!

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I try to be more budget friendly to my bags and shoes... Bags I usually get as gifts, but I would say I think anything over $300 is a lot, but I take good care of my bags and they last me.
Shoes, I try to keep it under $100 and buy when the seasons change. However I will splurge on Uggs, Tory Burch flats (which actually were a gift) and riding boots (but can usually get riding boots for under $70)

This is about the same for me.
$85 for shoes that I'll wear for work, no problem. Over $100, I'd have to think about it and see if I think I'll get a lot of use out of them.
As for handbags, I will buy an expensive one, but use it for years. I do not change over my bag every season, or daily to match my outfits. I buy basic and classic, and get a lot of use of of it.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I do not ever spend the money on myself - anything expensive I own is b/c DH gave it to me as a completely unsolicited gift ........
I am a shoe freak, and I LOVE my CLs - but when shopping for myself, $100 is my limit.
I am not a bag person, I have 2 LVs, a burberry and a huge Cole Haan (all again, gifts from DH that I didn't ask for) I rotate those .......and probably will for the next 40 years. - Lol.
I DO have my eye on one final LV .......but at $2100 I almost gagged. I don't buy bags for myself - ever. it's not my thing - I don't even look.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
i cant spend a lot on those things... i spend more on bags if its a brand that will last longer. now most of my bags are coach (from the outlets or online outlet sale) that cost $100 or less. and to me its totally reasonable bc coach lasts forever!
for shoes, i like my shoes to be comfortable but i know i wear them out in a matter of months so i try to spend $75 or less on shoes

Shoes I think over $100 is expensive.
Bags I don't buy for myself, DH gets me bags as gifts. For an LV, Burberry, etc I think over $1000 is expensive.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
For shoes I never spend over $100, even my wedding shoes were 50 bucks.
For bags, if I buy myself then I won't spend more than $50. If there's a really nice one I want then I will ask for it for either my b-day or xmas present.
But I have a few bags that I use for a few years and rotate them according to season.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I'm not big on shoes.. .It's rare that I spend more than $200 on a pair so in my opinion, anything above that range is expensive. I guess it also depends on the type of shoe it is too .... If it's all leather for that price, it's not bad- but if it's a flip flop or something for the beach, then that's a little crazy (in MY opinion).
For bags, well .. anyone who knows me knows that I'm obsessed with my handbags and the big designers. I mostly carry Gucci, Prada, or Burberry... but that's my personal taste. As far as what's expensive, I guess that also depends on the kind of bag it is and the reason I'm getting it. If it's a "just because" bag... then I can't justify spending too much. If it's for a gift, that's different.. Again, all just my opinion.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I'm pretty cheap when it comes to buying apparel. The only shoes I can remember spending more than $30 on are my running sneakers, because I'm very picky with those. Bags, forget it, I don't think I've spent more than $30 on one ever.... I have a ton of different ones though & I switch out my bag almost every day. I'd get bored with it if I used the same one every day.

For shoes, if I really love them, I will spend $100. Boots, I will spend $200-$250. Bags, which I maybe buy once a year, I'll spend $300 or so.
I like cheap clothes but not cheap bags & shoes.

The most I've spent on shoes was $75 for a wedding ( but I've been given Uggs as a b-day present)
I am so cheap with bags... I think buying a LesportSac bag at the outlets for about $45 was the most I've spent

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I ama bag and shoes addict. However I love sales.I have been lucky with bags. I usually buy D&B on sale. LV was a gift from DH. We went to Roosevelt fields this weekend and he almost bought me one-I just couldnt justify the purchase on a whim. Chanel bags I love but again only bought when I worked and got at the employee sale. Anything more than $250.00 is expensive to me.
Shoes-I think $200+ is expensive...

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
Everyday shoes - something I'd wear over and over for walking around, and get more wear/tear....maximum $150
Special occasion, a pair I'd wear for "going out" and probably wear less than 25 times a year....I've spent up to $800 - $1,000
Handbags...I collect them, so that's a different story. My most inexpensive bag is $500...they usually average about $1K - $2K.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
What I think is expensive and what I'm willing to pay are two different things.
Shoes: I think anything over $150 is expensive, but my shoes average $400 - 600 (Stuart Weitzman is my go-to guy.) Being a size 12, it's difficult to find shoes in my size...TTS anyway. It's even harder for me to find shoes/boots that I think are nice and comfortable. I don't skimp on my everyday shoes/boots and because of my size, I can't wait for markdowns/sales. My rationale is that I'm better off spending more on those because it would kill me to have $$$ just sitting in my closet and only seeing the light of day several times a year. If I'm paying $$$, I want to get use out of them. I also try and buy classic shoes that I can get at least a few years out of. (I have them conditioned/repaired/resoled, etc.)
Handbags: $350+ is expensive, but most of my bags are in the 1-2K range. Again, my rationale is that it's something I use on a daily basis. It needs to be well made and withstand several years of abuse.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
With the exception of my Uggs, I won't spend more than $50 on a pair of shoes.
I won't spend more than $100 on a bag.
The current bag I have is from the Coach outlet that was bought for me for my birthday over a year ago and I use it every single day.

Re: what do you consider to be expensive for....
I'm the same way. I've never paid over $60 for a bag and I wasn't too keen on that price either. I don't generally do designer bags anyway.
Now shoessss..... I'll spend more on. Still nowhere near designer though- no Louboutins or anything of the sort. I think I've spend about $130 on a pair of shoes and that was a lot.
