We have a really small family so just my mom, brother, mil & fil came to eat & have cake at my house. Will probably do the same for my younger son's first bday.

A small backyard party at my parents; about 20 guests only.

We did a winter onederland also at Mario's in Plainview.

Dd1 has her first at the aquarium. Dd2 was at White Post Farms.

We decided to go big for the 1st bday and subsequent parties have been at home so far...

DD1 had a big party in the backyard, about 70 people. DD2, had a dinner at a hibachi restaurant much smaller 35 people

Took her to the zoo

I wanted that 1st birthday to be special. Just the three of us. Just as it started one year ago.. Just the three of us. Difference was instead of her being a screaming bundle and me exhausted and him in shock we got to watch her eyes widen at the sight of a flamingo and sleep comfy in the sun and not in a hospital crib. That was how we celebrated her first year.. thinking about all we'd been through together as 3.

She didn't know what day it was or why she had a funny pink hat on. She had no need for cake or balloons. She was thrilled with the birds that came to eat out of the cup I held for them as I cradled her in my other arm.

That following weekend was a big to do for my uncle's birthday (he's 4 days before her, two days before me) so we showed up for that. No one brought her gifts or recognized her birthday then. My aunt who takes care of her, of course gave her stuff. Friends and coworkers offered gifts as well. But when they asked, we explained why we wanted no party and most thought it was pretty cool.

Trust me.. she had a blast at the Zoo. So much so, we did it again for her 2nd Bday.

What did you do your LO's 1st Bday?

We had it at a restaurant and I'll never do it again. We had to pay in advance and 11 people no showed. I was out a lot of money and pretty pissed. Just doing a kids party this year.

DD1 we had at Nunley's Carousel-- about 25 kids and 25-30 adults. We had our friends, friends with kids, as well as our siblings, nieces, nephews and even some older family members. The adults had just as much fun riding the carousel as we did! We invited our family back to the house for an "after party" with more substantial food and drinks.

DD2 we had at an outdoor park, where we had set up games etc. We catered in trays of food and had drinks etc Again, it was a venue where we could have both adults and kids enjoy the day.

After the 1st bday we have done it outside at kid venues. BUt I think I may have a small backyard bbq party just for family for DD's 2nd bday and maybe invite a couple of close friends (although that ALWAYS turns into a much bigger event than planned !)

What did you do your LO's 1st Bday?

#1 we had a country club party, big with extended family.

#2 we had a smaller group at a nice restaurant.

DS1 we had over 100 people in the backyard. We did an under the sea type of theme. We rented one of those huge inflatable water slides for the older kids.

DS2 we will probably do the same thing but a different theme. I'm thinking of doing the petting zoo with a barnyard themes or a carnival theme. We'll see.

I'll add that we have a great yard, a perfect layout for entertaining in my house and a ton of help; otherwise I doubt I would be hosting these shenanigans at home!

We had a big baptism for DD 2 1/2 mos before she turned one so I didn't have the energy for a big 1st birthday. We did a BBQ at home with my parents, DH's mom and sister, and my cousin who baptized DD and her son.

This year I'm thinking combination 3rd bday for DD and 1st for DS at home. Similar to poster above with petting zoo or carnival theme.

First birthday we had it at my parent's house in their yard. It was beautiful. Hot! But really nice. We had Lollipop Pony Party Rentals come and they brought a parade of all sorts of farm animals.

For his second birthday we did White Post Farms - he was still over the moon with animals so we stayed on that trend.

For his third birthday, this coming September, I'm thinking of doing:

He is still obsessed with animals but lately it has taken a turn to the more exotic. More animals you'd find at a zoo than on a farm. So, I was thinking of doing this.

We shall see!

...The theme for the first birthday was Sophie La Giraffe because it was his favorite toy. The theme for the second was the barnyard/farm theme since we were at a farm, and then the third I'll have to see but I'll probably go with the zoo animals.

Stayed home had a few family & friends over for apps, hero, & cake.

& we r planning a big party- basically same as his baptism but with a few kids that are his age (non family)

renting out a space
getting food- more like snacky tho-- probably 2-5PM or something

OMG so much to do.... so little time....

Just small things at the house. Both of our kids had/will have big christening parties so that's enough for us.

we had an Octoberfest party (DS is born in October) at a Plattduesch in Franklin Square.

on his actual birthday we had family over for cake.

We did a family party at home and did a party with friends at my gym.

For DD2, were thinking just a simple backyard party since her birthday is 9/1.

my first son we had it at White Post. My second we will probably have it in our backyard since it is in September

We just had a Curious George themed party at our house - just friends and family, apps, pizza and cake.
