What are some things you hear on this site
that you have done a thousand times in the past, but learn here that it is wrong or there are new/better ways of doing it?
Me: Stuff a turkey even though the stuffing can be contaminated from the turkey.
Drop side cribs- I survived as did my 5 siblings. What's with all the recalls?
Flushing old unused pills down the toilet- my mom did it, so I did it. Not once did I think about the end result instead of just tossing them in the garbage.
Kerosene heaters- I remember growing up my parents had one in their bedroom and that is what I used to get dressed in front of. I used to fill it up for them too (with supervision of course).
ETA: *I'd prefer to keep it drama free, just honest stuff you have learned*

Re: What are some things you hear on this site
The big one I can think of is not having car seats in the car. I was one of 6 and my parents had an old station wagon (just like the one on the Brady Bunch ) and 3 of us used to be in the way back (now called the "cargo" area) and not in seats, just rolling around as my dad drove....
ETA: My parents also used a kerosene heater - in the living room. Until my sister (who was 3 at the time), was running from the tv room to the bathroom and forgot it was there - and ended up losing her finger prints on both hands by falling into it ).

Shall I pop out my side doors and snap a pic of my neighbors Icicle Lights that I can see from my Family Room couch?

I had jelly shoes but HATED that they made my feet sweat so I never wore them. I also wore tube tops back then.

Same exact with the 6 and station wagon. I sat on a luggage going upstate one trip. My mom would crawl over the seats while my dad was driving to beat whomever was messing around.

I really have learned a lot from this site. Everday I feel like I hear at least oen thing I didn't know about.
Sure we all have different ways of doing things so I will go, oh never thought to do it that way or sometimes even but more often I am learning something new.

That going to the bathroom and using a handicap stall is wrong even if there is not a single solitary person in a 5 mile radius to where you are.

I learned I was in the wrong by wearing a white bra with a white shirt. At the age of 33 I went out and bought my first 'nude' bra.

I learned this as well. I feel awful. No wonder wildlife are so mellow around us.

I was surprised at the recalls too and had one for my kids but it's like saying "We had lead paint on our playground & we're fine." I'm glad they're diligent.
